You have my word. I will love your animal companion(s) as I would my own. I will treat your animal friend(s) just as I would hope and expect from anyone I selected to care for my own animals. Although I love all animals, I have a considerable amount of experience working with fearful and anxious dogs. I know how to read their facial expressions and body language well. I understannd when they desire their space and prefer to be loved in silence or from a distance. If one dog warms up to me, I will feel deeply touched; if another dog does not warm up, I will feel accepting and secure with that as well. I am calm around them. And I have a compassionate heart. My experience: It was around the mid 90's that I began working with dogs. I often held postiions such as dog grooming assistant, pet-sitter, and dog kennel attendant. In 2003, I acquired my degree and licensure for Veterinary Technology; however, I am currently retired from the practice. Animal rescue has been a great part of my life. Several years ago I operated a non profit canine rescue organization, and I also organized animal rescue transports across the country. Although I am not certified, I have completed a couple of T-touch workshops in the past. I have never lost my love for pet-sitting and I hope to continue this work for many years to come. Currently, I am in the process of earning my Animal Reiki Certification; this is providing me with an even greater awareness of my animal friends, allowing me to understand and connect with them on a deeper level.

Dawn has become our go-to pet sitter. Our two cats and rabbit adore her and she takes care of them just like they were her own. We love her communication and the daily updates she sends! She’s great to work with and I would highly recommend her to anyone wanting their babies to truly feel the love while they are away!
Dawn is warm, kind and knowledgeable about cats. She sure does bond with them quickly. Hired her for some medication distribution and to do some check-in’s. We trust her completely and will continue to hire her regularly.

All I can say is Dawn is a godsend! I have an older friend in the Eugene area, who's cat got sick and needed medicine twice daily. I needed someone right away to make sure this sweet old man's cat got the proper dosages and to make sure he got well.. SO hard to find people you can actually trust these days! This cat is very hard to handle, and does not like most people.. He loved her! no problems... Thank you Dawn!

Due to certain health ailments, I may not be able to care for very high energy dogs. The label 'high energy' feels relative to me. There are different levels of high energy. I am able to assess the energy level of any dog and determine whether or not the animal may, or may not, be one I can properly care for.

I feel it is also important to know as much information about the animal to be in my care as possible. Please let’s schedule a meet and greet (for free) so that I can get to know your animal companion. I would also be willing to schedule a second meet and greet (again for free) for pet sitting clients of special needs and/or fearful or anxious animals.
A typical day
As long as those in my care are friendly enough with other dogs, I will gladly take them to any nearby dog parks. If those in my care enjoy a game of fetch, I will gladly play along with them. If those in my care are displaying any symptoms of stress, fear, or anxiety, I will gladly do what I can to help the animal adjust to the situation, or remove them completely if applicable. I have extensive experience with anxious dogs. I know how to properly prevent separation anxiety. If a dog should show symptoms of separation anxiety, I feel confident that I can help to alleviate the symptoms in most cases. I am also quite familiar with T-Touch and Animal Reiki, both of which can be used to ease depression, anxiety, stress, and even sometimes physical ailments.

Availability
My only other commitments are my own animals. I am available to walk dogs and do drop in visits during daylight hours. Overnight stays must be discussed, as I would need to bring both my senior dog and senior cat along. This works well for clients who have a spare bedroom that we can stay in, so that my animals and my client's animals will have their own space. I have had great success with petsitting in this way. My animals are rather accustomed to staying in a separate bedroom, provided that my clients animals feel comfortable with the arrangement. Typically, my days off are Sunday and Monday, with the exception of petsitting type services. Please ask if you need my service on one of my 'off' days, as I may be able to make other arrangements. :)
