Dog Sitter Extraordinaire!

Pet care experience

I’ve loved animals since I was a kid, and grew up with cats, chickens, dogs, fish, and even hamsters when I was a kid. It was a veritable zoo, and I’ve spent many years caring for them. Most recently, I have a corgi mix dog named Winston in my care and he’s 11 years old. Sprightly, bright, fun, and always ready for a walk! I’ve also cared for puppies, administering vaccine shots and making sure their first foods were development appropriate. I had a litter of 9 blue heelers plus their parents at one point, so it was a bit of a mad house but they are all healthy and adopted by loving farming community families. I have experience in overnight house sitting of animals, and as my references will show, the services provided were excellent and affordable. I am available for extended stays as well as short ones, and am happy to walk to the dogs for up to an hour at a time per drop in visit, and several times during overnight stays. Engaging an animal on their level is always entertaining and fun, and the sense of connection and socialization that pets gain from it are beneficial to both their development and ongoing happiness.

David took care of my big dog Titi as well as two kittens, an adult cat, and six chickens, for nine days over the New Year holiday. We returned home to find everyone in great shape. I am very confident with David's care of Titi and the rest of my menagerie.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a fenced backyard that is somewhat roomy, a raised vegetable garden, and a large dog house in the backyard that goes mostly unused. There are several parks nearby, and we live in a green development bordering a lake, with trails throughout the neighborhood. Just a short drive away in Lacey is an off leash dog park, where well trained puppers can go socialize and play. I like to take my dog here as well! Winston is amazing with all dogs age 2 and up, and all people and children. He is an absolute love and joy to be around, and loves playing with other dogs, going for long walks, and doing commands for treats. He can socialize with your dogs, or you can have your dog walked separately if they are still needing leash training or extra personal time!

Information David C. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know whether your animal is friendly towards people or animals, but I'm sure many of them are. More importantly, I need to know what your pet does NOT like so I can avoid situations where they get too hyper or scared, as it's important that we develop a good working connection and open communication. If they have special dietary or medical needs, please alert me ahead of time.

A typical day

I love walking dogs in their local neighborhoods, as it helps them get to know the area and interact with the other animals in their locale. I also enjoy taking them to some of the many state and national parks we have in Washington. There are the traditional off leash dog parks, where they can socialize as part of a pack. Mostly, I take my dog to Millersylvania State Park, trails around Munn Lake, and the dog park off Hogum Bay Road in Lacey. I also enjoy walking with him on some of the beautiful nearby campuses and open fields at our state agencies and colleges. I do have some toys available for play, including tennis balls and soft frisbees, as well as a constant supply of Milk Bones for those that are allowed treats.
