Dave’s doggy summer camp!

Pet care experience

Dogs have been part of our relationship since before my wife and I were married. With very few breaks, we’ve always had dogs as part of our family, and we like to say that our first dog Charlie helped us raise our children! Our current home is ideal for taking care of not only our Joey, but also others, as we have a very large fenced in backyard, and are at the end of an extremely quiet neighborhood that is great for long walks.

David and April were amazing with my 2 year old golden-doodle, Trooper. A very beautiful house, a big fended in yard, lots of walks, he had his own vacation while I was away out of state. He was very cared for the week I was gone and I never had to worry. I got photos and updates! Troop was so happy! Their dog Joey played so well with him from the very beginning. He was cared for like family. Highly recommend them and will definitely be coming back!

I had the pleasure of having David and April dog sit our beloved Kenai, it was our first time away from our dog so our family was very concerned with leaving Kenai. However I cannot express enough how wonderful they were. From the moment I met them, it was evident that they were not only kind-hearted individuals but also incredibly attentive to the needs of dogs. Throughout our time away, David and April went above and beyond to ensure Kenai felt loved and cared for. They sent me regular updates, complete with adorable pictures of Kenai and their own dog, Joey. These updates truly put my mind at ease and more importantly helped with our kids getting over leaving Kenai behind for the weekend, them knowing that Kenai was in such capable and loving hands was everything for me and my wife. I cannot recommend David and April highly enough. Their genuine love for dogs shines through in everything they do. I would not hesitate to use their services again and again, as they have proven themselves to be exceptional dog sitters. It is worth mentioning that Kenai has been feeling a little down since returning home, missing her newfound friend, Joey. It is a testament to the bond that was formed between them during their time together. I am grateful to David and April for creating such a positive and enriching experience for Kenai. If you are in need of a dog sitter who will treat your family dog with the utmost care, kindness, and attention, look no further than David and April. They are truly exceptional individuals who I wholeheartedly trust and recommend.

David and his wife have kept our Brittany doodle, Maggie, on numerous occasions, and they love her like their own! Maggie has a great time with the whole family; chasing and playing with Joey in the backyard, cuddling on the couch with David and his family, and long walks in the wonderfully quiet, wooded neighborhood. David always keeps us updated with texts, pictures, and videos so that we never have to worry about Maggie. She’s always excited when we pull into the driveway and can’t wait to go play. David, his wife, and their dog,Joey, are some of Maggie’s favorite people. Choosing them to look after Maggie is an easy decision and we are so glad to have them in our lives.

David is a responsible and loving caregiver to his dog, Joey, and has been a great caregiver to each pet he has owned. He takes pet ownership seriously, researching training techniques and care needs for individual breeds. Joey is well-trained and receives lots of love and attention. He can even put away his own toys! I have never had any concerns when David has cared for my Boston Terrier; David paid attention to my dog's individuals preferences and needs, and went above and beyond my set expectations. David loves walking with dogs and playing with them in his yard. He makes pets feel welcome and comfortable in his home. I highly recommend David as a pet caregiver.

We are the last house on a cul de sac in a very quite neighborhood. We have a very large fenced back yard and a pet friendly house. From the fenced yard , you enter our house through the garage, which makes it very easy to transition happy muddy dogs into the house! Areas of the house in which we don’t allow Joey are fenced off with gates, including our bedroom. Joey sleeps in his crate at night outside our bedroom door. We would prefer crate trained guests, but can make arrangements if that is not your situation.

Information David & April P. would like to know about your pet

Joey is great with other dogs, and makes friends fast. He does do better with other high energy and confident dogs, as he likes to play hard and this sometimes intimidates more timid dogs. We do allow Joey on the couch and the outside furniture, but he sleeps in his own crate at night and is gated off from our bedroom. If your dog doesn’t sleep in a crate, we can talk and work something out.

A typical day

Joey and I typically start the day with a long leashed walk in our wooded and quiet neighborhood, that some days ends up at a little creek down the dirt road. We’ll spend the cooler parts of the summer days doing yard work and playing outside, but the hot afternoons Joey spends napping while I do inside chores. In the evenings, we’re back outside for some serious ball chasing! TV time on the couch is an important part of the day. We always end up with one last potty break for Joey while I put the chickens up for the night!

I’m not working and home full time, and my wife works from home, so she’s here as well. I spend a lot of time outdoors with Joey, our young Aussie, either playing in the fenced backyard, doing yard work while he supervises, or going on long walks in our quite neighborhood. Joey is basically my full time side kick, or maybe I’m his! He and I love having friends join our routine!
