Pet care experience
I can't walk past a dog without petting it! I have a 14 year old Whoodle (Miniature Poodle and Wheaten Terrier) and he gets the final say on who boards with us :-) He prefers dogs that are no larger than him (under 25 lbs), non shedding (ok maybe that's the human preference), calm (as opposed to exhuberant) and generally happy to hang out aside from a walk or two per day. Shaggy is even willing to share a toy or two :-) I work from home and can walk the dogs at least once per day. On weekends we may leave the house for a few hours but ensuring the dogs are stimulated and exercised is always a priority. We may take your dog (with your permission) on a hike or snowshoeing. We have a fenced yard (although houdinis can still escape) and can put a dog on a tie out to go outside. I can make it a point to hold your dog before opening the front door for safety.
Reviews
Darlene is a caring and compassionate individual who will provide wonderful care for your dog. She has many years of hands-on experience with dogs, including several of her own. Darlene is dedicated towards creating a safe and stimulating environment to ensure your dog has the best stay!
We had an excellent experience with Darlene as our doggy caregiver. She was very patient with our Shitzu-Bichon Ginger, as Ginger was a very stubborn pup. For example, wanting to get up at 4 in the morning to go out. Darlene was reliable, responsible, and great at keeping in contact with us. I recommend her and would definitely choose her as our doggy caregiver moving forward.
Darlene is a wonderful animal person! She goes to great lengths to ensure her own dog’s health and comfort and I have no doubt would do the same for anyone else’s fur baby. She is my neighbour and helped us when we were out of town and left our new puppy with my sister in law who couldn’t get out in the evenings as she had a newborn. Darlene is always so excited to see my dog Fancy, give her all the cuddles and treats (with permission). Darlene can be spotted daily walking her dog, and has a lovely clean home where your baby will be safe. I wouldn’t hesitate to leave my precious Fancy with Darlene!

Information Darlene M. would like to know about your pet
Dog must be able to climb stairs to come in and out of the house. Must get along with Shaggy. My preferred breeds are ones that don't shed. I'm looking for a quieter dog since our dog is 14 years. I welcome a meeting to see how they do. Note that I cannot leave food down as Shaggy will eat it so I feed twice per day. I am comfortable feeding raw as that is what we do.
A typical day
I get up around 7am, let the dogs out into the backyard for a pee, then have my shower, etc. I then feed the dogs and have my coffee/breakfast :-) The time of year and weather dictate when I walk. I usually do a neighbourhood walk by noon and the dogs are usually outside one more time between waking and that walk. My dog is happy to just go outside in the yard after that one walk but I can manage another walk if your dog needs it - especially if we need to see them do their business before bed! I sometimes have a neighbourhood dog over for a play date - although it's often more of a sniff date than a play date :-) On weekends I may take the dog (with your permission) on a walk in the woods somewhere - a local park, a hike, snowshoe, etc. On a weekend we may go out for a few hours and leave the dogs at home or in the car as we run errands and weather permitting.
