Pet care experience
There's no substitiute for experience. A little about myself: I started my career in Veterinary medicine early on. Shortly after graduating High School I furthered my education and completed the required schooling needed to qualify me to sit for the California State Board Exam which I passed and became a RVT (Registered Veterinary Technician). These are just a few of the many tasks I became proficient at: 1. Induce and monitor anesthesia 2. Perform CPR 3. Assist in surgery 4. Give chemotherapy 5. Placement of splints and bandages. 6. Give Injections by all routes such as Subcutaneous, Intramuscular and intravenous. 7. Administer subcutaneous (under the skin) fluids. 8. Give medications by mouth, eye and ear. I provided care to everything from Mice to Macaws and Turkeys to Toucans (the Toucan was a resident of Marine World.) I am proud of the awards that I achieved year after year during my 10 years at a Hospital in Walnut Creek. I was awarded for my reliability, commitment, dedication, competency and compassion to name a few. While at that hospital I developed a special skill. My ability to pick up on subtle signs or symptoms and alert the Dr. before it became life threatening for the patient. I would notice an abnormal wave on the ECG, a heart murmur that was not earlier detected, a patient in ICU that was starting to have slightly more effort in their breathing in which the Dr. immediately ordered oxygen. It was my attention to detail that made me a highly valued employee. I still carry that special skill and have used it on several occasions during my time with Rover. These are 2 examples: 1. I detected an abnormality to the character of the breathing on one of my good client’s dogs which later turned into a bronchial infection requiring extensive treatment. 2. I have placed a unicorn bandage on an ear flap that was bleeding when I came to walk my other client’s dog. She took him to her Vet, they replaced my bandage , theirs fell off and she actually asked me to make a special visit to put on another of my bandages which gained a complement from her Vet stating that I had done an excellent job, even better than theirs! I hope this puts you at ease knowing that I have the knowledge and the skill to react appropriately should there be an emergent situation with your pet. Of course I will always contact you immediately with any concerns. I am very communicative. I have open availability and am very flexible. This is my only job. I do this full time so I try to stick to their routine as much as possible to minimize their stress. I will feed them when they expect their dinner I never leave your dog by themselves in your yard. You never know if there might be a new hole in the fence so I always accompany them when outside.
Reviews
Darla was great with my dog! She’s super attentive and considerate. I always know I’m in great hands w Darla.
Darla was so amazing to our kitty waffles. She went above and beyond our expectations and she really made us comfortable with being so far away. She truly loves her job and it shows!
Our pup loves when Darla visits! She takes incredible care of him every time, and we feel so much better knowing he’s in good hands while we’re out.
This was a last minute booking. Darla was very responsive and thorough. She stayed in touch throughout the visit.

Information Darla T. would like to know about your pet
I have a few questions I usually ask during the meet and greet. Usually i dont even have to ask because the owner usually goes over everything that is important and that they want me to know about their babies. The only things that I have to make sure to get is emergency contact info, legallities like authorization for treatment with your Vet. I don't have any breed preferences. I have experience with all dog breeds from a Pocket Beagle named Hailey to a Mastiff named Lady. Lady weighs more than me! I have rescued Pits in the past. They sure do love their humans and I love them.
A typical day
We'd go on their favorite route for their walk and throw the ball in the backyard and snuggle up in the blankets before bedtime. I give good massages as well.
