In some countries, especially where I came from (Cabo Verde), dogs aren’t always treated with care and love. Due to the living conditions, not many can afford having and taking care of a dog. But I wanted one very badly that my stepfather gave me one as a gift. I named it Meggy and took great care of her. I had to depart to the US after two years with Meggy and then started caring for pets here. Whether a friend’s pet or to make additional funds for school. I have a meaningful love for dogs as they have been there in my lowest, a true friend.
