Active Sitter Who Loves To Play!

Pet care experience

I’ve taken care of pets including dogs for 10+ years! Besides my own loving pets, I’ve watched over the animals of family, friends, and neighbors. I believe the secret to creating a positive relationship with pets and there owners is being attentive and mindful. Furthermore, I have a personal passion for the care taking of pets and would love to bring that passion to you!

Not sure Dante has taken care of cats before. When he was taking care of Ginger he didn’t clean out the litter box. I came back the litter box was over flowing with pee and poop :(

We’ve used rover in the past and our normal sitter wasn’t available to watch our Dane for our quick trip. So we decided to try someone new and decided we would give Dante a chance even though he seemed new to sitting. Unfortunately we were every disappointed with Dante. We had booked for him to be there day and night (being able to leave the dog for four hours tops), but were very specific that he was to stay the night. After the first night I looked at our cameras and found that he didn’t stay the night. When I asked him about it he said that upon arrival “The kids bathroom wasn’t ready for guests and there were no blankets and sheets or towels left out for him.” This is where I believe there is a miscommunication on both ends. In the past our Rover sitter brought all of this with him. We just supplied the air mattress, he brought all of his bathroom stuff and a sleeping bag. However other then a towel, the bathroom was ready for visitors, we even cleaned it the day before, so other then a few bath toys in the bottom of the tub it was clean. So miscommunication on both ends and something I’ve learned for the future. All that being said, Dante had other options than just deciding to not stay the night. First he arrived around 9 am that morning, so he had time to see everything before night time. He had many different options including: 1. Text me asking where all the items could be found and I could guide him to where they all were. 2. Go home and get the items he needed 3. Contact me describing the situation and asking if it was ok for him not to stay the night and we could of come up with a solution. ( A simple one would have been seeing if he could leave at 10 pm and get back by 8 am so Mouse wasn't in his kennel as long) Unfortunately he decided not to even contact us and left just before 9 pm and came back around 9:20 am the next day. Leaving our Great Dane in his kennel for just over 12 hours. Our Dane has never been left alone is his kennel for 12 hours. The most has been 8 hours (10 pm - 6am) when he was younger. In fact, crate training isn’t about leaving your dog in the kennel for long periods of time. It’s about creating a safe environment for your dog to go if they need to. If our trip hadn’t been for just a few nights I would have gotten on a plane back home to take care of the dog. As it was we were gone for just two nights so we decided to wait and see what happened. Dante did communicate with us a little bit better, but I feel like there was still communication issues. When he left we instructed him to leave mouse in the dining room area, not locked up in the kennel, when we got home we found Mouse in the dining room with the kennel locked so Mouse couldn’t get in to lay on his bed. Ever since we got home our dog is very skittish and won’t let us out of his sight. He’s following us around everywhere. It's apparent that he's having very bad separation anxiety. He is also having difficulty going into his kennel. With treats we finally got him to go in for a few seconds. It took us three days to get him to go into his kennel without being afraid and whining. This has never happened before as he has always been good with his kennel. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I feel like others need to learn from this experience and be better prepared. I did contact rover support about this and they told me that would do an inquiry, but it would be completely confidential and the best thing I could do was write a review. The main reason for the 2 star review is the lack of communication and just deciding to not stay the night, even though that is specially what we paid for. I'm still in disbelief that someone would decide not to stay the night without asking or communicating it at all.

Dante is just fantastic; he proactively offered a meet and greet. He even left music playing for Sofie when he went to grab a quick bite. He's so thoughtful and responsive. Highly recommend if you're looking for an awesome and reliable sitter! Thank you so much!
