In my 29 years of life I have had the privilege of caring for our family pets. Our first dog was a Siberian Husky named Blue. He had piercing blue eyes and was already a family member before I came along. My older sister and I grew with him. He took us for sleigh rides, wagon rides and lots of walks. We took care of him, feeding watering and grooming and loved him very much. Blue is the reason I fell in love with animals. I had a cat named Socks who we rescued from a forest in Ontario when he was just a kitten. For 13 years I had another dog named Oreo, a little Bichon Poodle who looked like an Oreo cookie. The most difficult thing about having a pet is the loss of one. You never quite get over it. When my girlfriend and I got together she brought with her an amazing little French Bulldog named Nessie. Nessie has frequent seizures and because she came into my life I have learned a lot about the care of a broken animal. She suffers with the seizures but is such a brave little soul. My girlfriend loves animals too and is always rescuing cats in the neighborhood. At the moment we have Nessie and a cat named Ruth. It gives me great comfort in taking care of anyone's pet just knowing that they are in trusted hands.
