My wife and I raised our own dog for six years (a bulldog named Dozer) before we lost her to a brain tumor. We both grew up with dogs (golden retrievers). We’ve dog sat for our neighbors and family for past ten years. Our kids love dogs. We are constantly outdoors, going on walks and to the park. We spend a lot of time together as a family and love the joy and energy dogs bring to our household. I am an elementary gym teacher, so I am home in the early afternoon. My wife work from home 3-4 days per week, where she is readily available to let the dog outside and take short walks several times per day. Our children are in elementary school so we are home in the evenings, spending time together, usually outdoors. We have a light schedule (sports, church) with their ages, so we have lots of time to dedicate to pets. We are home the vast majority of weekends except for going to things like church, grocery shopping, birthday parties or neighborhood gatherings. We love dogs, so we have the dog right with us- whether that’s out for a walk, snuggling for a movie on the couch or hanging in the backyard. We’re used to having a dog sleep in our bed, but our house has three levels of the dog prefers a crate or space. Our three kids are eager to care for the dog, so they all pitch in with play, feeding, grooming, walks and clean up.
