I've known Daniel for over 10 years, and in these years I have watched him grow up with his family dog, Millie. As a puppy, Millie was a cold and protective little lass, frequently snarling at strangers when they came to the house. As both of Daniel's parents worked long hours, he took it upon himself to train Millie and show her the love that she deserved. He would spend hours after school running his own little doggy obedience school in the backyard and playing fetch with Millie. As a result of this loving attention provided by Daniel, Millie eventually softened up to strangers--to the point that I could give her belly rubs, which was a long way from where she began. In her final years, Millie was suffering from a heart defect. When Daniel was home from college, he would drive her an hour to the nearest veterinarian (in rural Idaho) for her checkups. He was the ultimate caregiver and companion to Millie, and she loved him as such. Given my unique perspective of Daniel and Millie's lifelong friendship, I know with certainty that he will be an excellent caregiver to any dog that he encounters.
