I work from home, so caring for your pup naturally fits into my whole day. I love taking long walks, waking up early, and exploring the neighborhood—but it’s so much better with a furry friend trotting beside me. Whether it’s a quick potty break, a leisurely park stroll, or a game of fetch between my projects, your dog will have my full attention from morning to night. And if we pass anyone on our walks, I’ll be proudly introducing your pup as my “co-worker of the day.” 🐾

Safety, trust & environment
We live right across from Providence Park and Folger Park, in a very quiet, calm area. Our home is also quiet, with excellent sound insulation—I can’t even hear the trash truck. No neighbors noise, no traffic noise, no surprises. BUT many dogs, many kids, and way too many squirrels. So if your pup is prey-driven, leash reactive, or gets overstimulated one of all of them, unfortunately, this is not the right place for them to thrive. I only host one dog at a time, so there’s no competition for attention and no stress from other dogs in the home. Outdoor, leash stay secure at all times—I NEVER let dogs off-leash, never. Indoors, your pup gets constant supervision, a cozy place to nap, and as many snuggles as they’ll allow. I follow your care instructions to the letter—whether that’s a specific feeding schedule, daily meds, or a bedtime routine. Think of it as a home away from home, only with a personal concierge.

Information Dani D. would like to know about your pet
To make sure your dog feels comfortable and safe here, I’m the best fit for pups who walk nicely on leash and aren’t frequent barkers. When booking, it’s helpful to know if your dog: Has separation anxiety Finds stairs challenging (we have two flights) Tends to bark when left alone briefly May bark at night when hearing noises And please tell me everything—their quirks, comforts, favorite games, bedtime rituals, snack preferences, and any “must-haves” that make them happiest. The more I know, the more I can make their stay feel calm, cozy, and just like home (minus the part where they send you on vacation with guilt because I know it very well!)
A typical day
Morning starts with a park stroll to catch up on the neighborhood “sniff news.” Then it’s back for breakfast and a little rest before a midday potty break and walk. The day is made of a mix of walks, playtime, and cozy lounging while I work from home. In the afternoon, we head out for a neighborhood adventure—maybe exploring new corners or visiting a favorite shady bench for people-watching. Afternoons are for more play, belly rubs, or simply napping in a sunny spot. Evenings wrap up with one last unhurried walk, a blanket tuck-in, and a TV show on the couch—under two house rules: personal space is cancelled, and snoring is strongly encouraged. And somewhere in between, I may be found comforting the occasional desperate pup still processing their ‘tragic abandonment’—until they discover that life here is actually pretty great. 🐾❤️

🐾 One Dog at a Time
Pet care experience
I’ve been caring for dogs for over 20 years—starting with my beloved family dog, Babà (yes, like the French/Italian pastry), and then my two rescues babies, India Rei, a sweet, goofy black Lab, and Sophie Lou, a grumpy, adorable greyhound who was with me for 16 years. I still miss them—I'm sure you understand what I mean. Over time, I’ve looked after many other dogs via Rover, and my friends’ dogs, each one with their own personality, quirks, and needs. From 2022 to 2024, we lived in Seattle, where I ran a pop-up bakery, so I took a break from dog-sitting. Now back in D.C., and I couldn’t be happier to welcome pups into our home again. I also foster dogs (mainly temporarily since we travel frequently). Most are pitbulls or mixed bullies, and fostering has been one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had. Part of the money I make from working on Rover will go to rescue organizations that save dogs from being killed in shelters. Because I work from home on creative projects, I’m available all day to give your dog the attention, love, and care they deserve. I only host one dog at a time to ensure both your pup and you can relax, knowing they receive my full attention and affection. My goal is for you to feel as comfortable leaving your dog with me as you would with a trusted friend or family member. Over the years, I’ve developed special skills to keep pups safe and happy: administering medications (with tricks if needed), preparing fresh meals for picky eaters, or those with special diets or so sad that they lost appetite. And yes—I’m really good at comforting desperate pups crying behind the door after being abandoned by their smiling owners (acting as if they’re fine but feeling solo guilty). As a lifelong dog mom, I understand the trust needed when leaving your dog with someone else, and I treat every dog as if it were my own.
Reviews

Thank you for taking amazing care of Max! He loved his stay. I feel lucky to have you guys in our lives ❤️

My dog Mullica LOVED his stay with Dani and Matteo! Dani went above and beyond with providing care and affection, and she kept me up to date with photos and updates about how much Mullica was enjoying his new home away from home. I couldn’t be happier with the safety, attention to detail, affection, and many enrichment activities Dani provided during his stay. Mullica will be looking forward to his next visit!

You can tell how much Dani and Matteo really care for dogs — Dani was so thoughtful in communicating with us, and taking good care of Lena! They foster dogs and you can tell how much they just love dogs.

Dani and Matteo are the best! Max absolutely adores them.
