Reliable and ready to spoil pets!

Pet care experience

I'm relatively new to this area, and new to Rover, but not new to taking care of animals! I grew up on a farm in the Poconos, taking care of a variety of animals such as cats, dogs, horses, chickens/ducks, rabbits, sheep, goats, cows, hamsters, guinea pigs, ferrets, rats/mice, reptiles (snakes, bearded dragons, skinks, anoles), parrots (conure, cockatoo, cockatiel), and a rather spoiled tarantula named Dexter. I even had a pet raccoon and a few squirrels for a few months while they were being rehabilitated! That being said, I am happy to take care of any type of pet you have and will treat them like my own! I grew up with german shepherds, so I am comfortable with large breed dogs. When I was in college, I started working at Petsmart. I worked as the in-store Pet Training Instructor for about 4 years (so if you have any pesky behavioral problems you'd like assistance with, I'm more than happy and capable to help) so I've gotten acclimated to working with dogs of all breeds and sizes. I was also certified as a Pet Care Expert while working at Petsmart, which consisted of the care, education, and responsible selling of all the small animals available in the store, as well as the fish wall. Honestly, I can "read" animals much easier than I can read other people at times, which can be a crucial skill to have in order to detect illness, aggression, or other anxiety-induced behaviors. I love puppies and will happily help introduce a few basic tricks to engage them and keep them from getting into trouble! I'm also experienced with senior pet care for dogs and cats and have taken care of several elderly dogs and cats and gave them gentle love and affection before they inevitably crossed the rainbow bridge. To end on a brighter note: I'm more than happy to take care of pets of all species, sizes, and ages to ensure they're all living their best lives!

Dana was a saving grace when he got a puppy on short notice. She works with him and he enjoys her visits. She’s gone out of her way to help us and our pup live cohesively.

Dana's great with animals, I always call her to look after my two dogs when I'm away. She's calm and collected even with big, energetic pups like mine that need to get their energy out, and they love her. Definitely recommend her.

Props to Dana for being an amazing cat sitter. From a former neighbor to a beloved member of my family, she has always provided great care to my 2 cats. From the get-go, Dana connected with my cats, handled their routine like a pro, and genuinely enjoyed spending time with them. Communication was always top of her list, providing me with daily updates and pics, keeping me worry-free. Her level of responsibility and reliability made every sitting smooth sailing. If you need a no-fuss, caring pet sitter, Dana is the go-to. Highly recommend!

Safety, trust & environment

I have done dog-sitting/walking for friends and neighbors in the past, and I always try my best to leave the home in the exact same condition it was in when I arrived, unless there are puppy/senior dog incidents, in which I will do my best to address before I leave. I did have one experience where the puppy had a stomach problem and had a messy "blowout" inside his crate before I arrived at my scheduled time, so I had to take care of that to the best of my abilities. I took the pup back to my house (next door) and gave him a bath before returning with cleaning supplies and a HAZMAT suit. If I hadn't let the owner know, she said she wouldn't have even noticed there was an incident when she came home. :) I make sure to take note of any physical or behavioral changes in animals I interact with regularly, in case it might be indicative of injury/illness that I need to address and would be more than happy to write up a "report card" for any pet owners after each visit.

Information Dana N. would like to know about your pet

Please let me know if your pet has any food allergies, as I usually come with treats for them if they are not provided for me. If your pet has any reactivity to certain situations (other dogs/people while walking, people wearing hats, fearful of men, etc.) let me know during the meet and greet to ensure there are no surprises!

A typical day

If you're local, you know there are several parks and trails in the area where I can take your pup out to explore new environments and smells. If you're new to the area... welcome! Even if there's inclement weather, I'm fully equipped to go on a nice trail walk in rain or snow if your dog doesn't mind getting their paws a bit wet. If they prefer to stay cozy and dry during those days, I have plenty of toys to keep them occupied, or we can focus on reinforcing some training/tricks indoors that will keep them stimulated and entertained during their visit.

I currently work from home as a freelance writer with no children, so I have quite a lot of availability. I have reliable transportation and a squeaky clean driving record/criminal background. I can be available for pet visits/walks anytime between 8AM and 7PM, but I can also be flexible for emergency situations.
