Dogs are humans’ best friends.

Pet care experience

I absolutely love dogs. I’ve always had golden retrievers, and they’ve always been members of my family. I have extensive personal experience walking dogs and caring for them for days at a time on my own. Different dogs respond to different things and have different personalities, so I know techniques to create a trustworthy and fun relationship with a dog. I have a very open schedule, so most days and most times work for me. I’m also very good with instructions, so if you want anything specifically tailored for your sitting interaction with me, I can easily make that happen. I may be young and live near a college campus, but I care deeply about dogs and they will always be safe in my care.

Dan does a wonderful job looking after our two large dogs. He has grown up with dogs and is very responsible with them. He loves to walk and is strong enough to handle more than one dog at a time. He will treat your dog like his own and is caring and attentive. Being even tempered, Dan has a relaxing effect on animals, which is helpful with dogs who are missing their owner. Dan is very respectful of other people's homes and totally trustworthy.

I grew up raising our family's dogs with my younger brother, Dan. We learned how to be responsible dog caregivers from our mother, and Dan was the first to step up when she was away on trips. He was always attentive to their nutritional needs, but also to their health and well-being. Not only was Dan the one to take our dogs out for longer walks in the woods and for bathroom runs throughout the day, he also had a watchful eye for hurt paws, stray ticks (especially from the Connecticut woods), or any broader health concerns that required veterinary attention. Dan had an amazing grasp not only of our own dogs, but those of our neighbors, friends, and strangers out in public. At the end of the day, I think it is telling that our own two could usually be found at Dan's feet. He is a reliable, attentive, engaged, and loving caregiver.

Dan is the best! He would take care of my Australian Shepherd while we went on vacation and I think she likes him more than us!

Information Dan M. would like to know about your pet

I don’t have any breed preferences, my only hesitation would be the level of training a dog has. I can handle puppies and unresponsive dogs, but I would like to avoid severely untrained or aggressive dogs. Before accepting a job, I would simply ask what the dog’s training is on a level of 1-10 (10 being the best). If the rating the owner gives me is below a 3 (puppies being the exception), then I may choose to decline.

A typical day

I love to take dogs walking both on the road and in the woods. I also find it fun to take them to an open field and play around with them and get their energy going.
