We have your dog's happiness at heart

Pet care experience

We cater mainly for small dogs, pups and oldies. We grew up with dogs and foster them, so we understand the need for kindness, routine, fun training, stability and extra care when owners are away. We have lots of hands-on experience, expertise and education to enhance the dogs’ enjoyment of their time here. Through Damien’s business, Small Dog Solutions, we offer training, welfare and behavioural advice, and owners find this reassuring and helpful. We have a peaceful, comfy, smoke-free home, with a secure organic garden. We enjoy the social aspect of having several compatible dogs around so we only take dogs which like other dogs, and can relax around them. When we're asked to board a new dog, we check the vaccinations, meet the dog and owners to learn more, then arrange a session to learn more and make sure the dog is relaxed and happy with us before boarding. For this reason, we are generally unable to accept last-minute bookings for dogs we don't know. Damien's certificates include: IMDT "Professional Day Care and Boarding" qualification (Ofqual Level 3) Edinburgh University/Coursera: Animal Behaviour and Welfare IMDT Perfect Puppy IMDT Canine Body Language PDSA Pet First Aid We have PVG certificates for working with vulnerable groups Our gas safety certificate is viewable on request. Our home passed a safety inspection by the fire service There are carbon monoxide detectors, fire alarms, fire blankets and a fire extinguisher on the premises. Our garden is a permaculture, organic garden. No weedkillers, pesticides, fertilizers, slug pellets or any other poison is ever used in the garden. **Donations of unwanted toys, harnesses, etc. are always helpful for our foster dogs and animal charities** Familiarity is reassuring for furries. If your wee one is boarding, please bring: - lead, harness and ID tag - a blanket plus towel - normal food and treats - favourite toys, e.g. food dispensing or teething toys, kong, etc. : essential for pups! - grooming tools, shampoo and medication if needed Covid 19 precautions: For the foreseeable future, initial meet and greets will be via video calls; all meetings and handovers will be out of doors, taking account of social distancing advice. Holiday rate: We do not charge a holiday rate but charge double for Christmas day, Boxing day, New Year day and Easter day.

Alfie stayed over the weekend with Damien and Kirsteen, having previously had a couple of settling in visits with them. Damien sent daily updates and pictures of Alfie which showed him having a great fun time out and about on nice walks. We hope we can return for another stay later in the year.

Our dog, Mango had a great time with Damien and Kirsteen. She was well looked after. We received daily updates and great photos so we felt Mango was in a good hand. She was taken for many walks with different locations so she had a busy, adventurous holiday. I was specially glad she could socialise with other dogs since Damien and Kirsteen had other boarder buddies at the same time. I can highly recommend them.

Thank you for looking after Woody for 10 days whilst we were away. You kindly sent photos & videos every day so that I could see that Woody was having fun and, also, relaxing and able to settle. Thanks for looking after him so well and giving him some great walks.

Our cockapoo Roy stayed with many people before but the whole experience with Damien and Kirsteen was next level. We met a couple of weeks before our holiday for an onboarding session, during which they learned about Roy, his needs and the quirks of his behaviour. They have a large garden and plenty of space in the house, so even if there are other dogs staying over, everyone will have enough space. During our holiday Damien and Kirsteen sent us photos and videos every day, so we could relax and enjoy the holiday knowing Roy was in great hands. We'll definitely be using their services in the future!
