Dogs/Owners Rejoice! I ♡ Dogs!
Pet care experience
I lived in Santa Fe, NM for 29 years before moving to L.A. You will immediately sense my passion for dogs and abilities with humans as well! I have raised a variety of dogs over the years and currently have two Pomeranians (instagram: remyandollie). When I lived in Santa Fe, NM the past 28 years, I was regularly helping out with friend's pets and volunteered at the old shelter (they built a beautiful new one outside town) periodically until my work schedule in real estate only allowed me to take Remy & Ollie with me everywhere! I am extremely comfortable with all kinds of dogs from the painfully shy and nervous to the gregarious out going Retriever types. Additionally, I am comfortable with treating medical conditions and post surgical as I have done everything from giving my elderly beagle an IV (she had Cushings..) to bringing home my own small dog after their knee surgeries so I could take care of them at home. Normally the surgeons kept them but came to know me in Santa Fe so allowed me to take them home the same day. I am passionate about dogs and bringing joy to their lives. With a certain ability to read them swiftly, I can engage and comfort the most timid as well as work with the more difficult. My son has two Staffies (in the Pitbull family) and myself rescued a 131 pound Rottweiler and his ten litter mates at 3 days old (bottle fed them all!) and we kept one for 13 years, until he passed away from old age. Big or little I am here to love them!
Reviews
Dakota is great. Our dog loves her. She is very reliable and very knowledgeable about dog handling and behavior. She helps with training while walking our dog as well.
Dakota is caring, watchful, patient, and fun! She’s just wonderful. You know instantly upon meeting her she loves dogs! You won’t regret leaving you pet with her. In fact, once you have Dakota watch over your pet, you’ll never want to use anyone else. Our dog Jack loved her!
Dakota has been our go to pet sitter for years! She is the only one we trust our dogs with as they really are considered members of our family. On several occasions when we traveled out of country for days to weeks at a time, Dakota looked after our dogs and she did an amazing job caring for them. When we came back from our first trip, it was clear they had formed a strong bond with her and their excitement to see her remains the same every time we hire her for sitting. As well, when I had knee surgery and was unable to take our dogs on their daily walks, Dakota stepped in and was able to exercise them and take them on their walks which they love so much. If you are unable to walk your dogs yourself for any reason, Dakota really is the next best thing. Her interaction with our dogs is so natural and their admiration of her is clear. They love her as a pet sitter and dog walker, as do we!
I've known Dakota and her long relationship with dogs over many years. Her dogs were always joyful, playful and interested in any friends or newcomers which appeared. I'm a cat person myself, but I know dogs are terrific companions and her consistent interaction with her own dogs is reflected in their interested interaction with any human that comes within their purview either inside their own environs or outside in their walks and playtime. I highly recommend her for any interaction with our canine friends.

My biggest interest prior to sitting the first time, is if the dog has anxieties or fears of strangers. Do I need to be very gentle and quiet opening the door and calling them or will they behave like some Goldens and race joyfully to the front door? While I am obsessed with Pomeranians and many small breeds, that is just because I currently have two pommies! Most of my life I have had big dogs...including growing up with Afghan Hounds, raising GOlden Retrievers, a Siberian Husky, an Old English Sheepdog, the Rottie, a beagle and a Saluki!
A typical day
Obviously this is based on the dog and whether he/she has a favorite toy or a loved area for walking and playing. I had a pommie who would play hide and seek with me in the house and currently have one that loves to do that but under throw blankets. I have another who loves to catch tiny foam cat toys when thrown to him. Frisbee is a game my Rottie played but that requires off-leash and fenced property. I am open to whatever brings them happiness and that owner wishes as long as it is safe!
