Pet care experience

I am licensed, bonded, insured and certified in Pet First Aid & CPR. I have decades of experience in caring for and training dogs and horses, in this time I have raised puppies and have taken on rescues that no one wanted. I know how to care for small animals such as guinea pigs, rabbits, parakeets and parrots, gerbils and hamsters. I am an avid tropical fish keeper. All animals in my care are treated with respect and positive reinforcement. I continue to educate myself on dog training and nutrition. I am capable of medicating dogs, cats, rabbits and other pocket pets. I love challenging cats and dogs with puzzles, scent work and snuffle mats, it is amazing to me to watch them work things out. Getting their minds busy and active is incredibly enriching for our companions. Enriching activities are especially good for pets with mobility issues, senior pets who can no longer go on long walks, thrive on one on one work, trick training, treat hunting, gentle playing with toys, the same applies to cats. Just because they can't be as physical any more doesn't mean they shouldn't have enrichment on a regular basis to make their lives meaningful. Of course gentle walks, stretching and massages are beneficial to keeping good muscle tone and encourage flexibility for our senior and mobility challenged fur babies.

Dee did an amazing job and made me feel so at ease while I was out traveling. My cat Natasha absolutely loved Dee and I got the cutest pictures of her playing and getting treats. Definitely planning to rebook next time I travel so Natasha can hang out with her new friend!! =^.^=

She’s been great to work with and very prompt with her communication. She took the time to let my slightly shy dog warm up to her each time!

Dagmar has been so great with my dog! She gives great notes about their time together and sends lots of pictures. And my dog just LOVES her.

Safety, trust & environment

The safety and welfare of all pets in my care is my number one priority. My goal is to provide the best quality care to all animals without causing them unnecessary stress. Making them feel comfortable by watching their body language and looking for signs of distress. I will happily engage them with species appropriate activities and/or treats so long they don't have any food allergies. I am Pet First Aid & CPR certified and know how to act in an emergency. I am very familiar with aloof breeds as I have raised Rottweilers for over 20 years. Handling shy and reactive dogs was the reason why I started looking into positive reinforcement training, and have found that it makes dogs as well as cats far more receptive to interacting with new handlers.

Information Dagmar W. would like to know about your pet

The temperament of the dog, is he or she reactive? Are they weary of strangers? How are they about letting a stranger come into their home with or without the guardian present? Do they have any food allergies? Is there a bite history? What is the dog's energy level? What is it's medical history? Any physical ailments? Is the dog good with other dogs or other animals in general?

A typical day

I adore walking with dogs and playing with cats! After arriving and getting ready to go walk we will hit the street for a good snifferie where I let the pup decide the pace, if they want to sniff then they get to sniff, it's so good for them! If they want to keep moving then we keep moving! If the weather is not safe for walking, either too hot or too cold to be outside aside from potty breaks, then I will set up some puzzles filled with treats or bring a snuffle mat for them to dig through. We can work on some training if the pet parent desires. We can play with toys, play hide and seek or even tug of war, if it is allowed of course :D

Pet care is what I live and breathe and where my love and passion belongs, it's a full filling way to spend my time. Nothing else makes me happier. For me this is a full time service and not a side gig. Sadly I am currently unable to provide 24 hour care, I am however available for overnights 7pm to 7am, drop-ins and dog walking.
