Pet care experience
Aside from having family dogs consistently through my childhood, I've dogsat for many friends and have also volunteered with multiple animal rescues and nonprofits. I'm on Rover not only because I love helping people with their pets, but also to help me raise money to go back to school to become a licensed Social Worker with an emphasis on Animal Assisted Therapies. I have basic knowledge and experience in animal behavior, training, and medicine. Noteworthy experiences I've had with dogs (relatively chronological): •Training my family's Goldendoodle in dog agility. •Dogsitting during the day since I was in middle school and overnights since high school. •Co-raising a shy and nervous Great Dane •Fostering a rescue Pitbull with some behavioral challenges--she is thought to be previously trained as a fight dog. •Fostering pit mixes being treated for and recovering from heartworms. •Fostering an abused mixed breed that suffered from heartworms, seizures and other neurological issues, blindness, and healing wounds. I'm comfortable working with animals that are shy/anxious around new people, and those pups do not get along with other animals! I moved to Seattle recently and worked as a Veterinary Assistant for a little over a year at Cascade Heights Veterinary Center. I will be starting graduate school in September at University if Washington for my Masters in Social Work! Fun fact: I've also worked with big cats, penguins, primates, and other African wildlife!
Reviews
We’ve rebooked Crissy for our cats while away for a quick trip. She is reliable and consistent! Thank you Crissy!
Crissy went above and beyond for our two ornery cats! She was readily available for a meet and greet before our visit, and took extra care while we were gone. Thank you Crissy!
I was consumed so entirely organizing a memorial for a close family member that the night before I realized my dog Ginger would be inside my house all day and I had not arranged for anyone to look in on her, feed her and let her out to do her business. Despite the last-minute request and her own busy schedule, Crissy made the time to come over and check in on Ginger, feed her, walk her and play with her. Crissy kept me updated as to when she looked in on Ginger and the photo she sent me showed a very happy dog. Crissy and rover.com were a godsend.
Crissy is amazing! She was super easy to communicate with and took awesome care of our new pup Cassius and our friend's dog Hudson. She not only is obviously experienced with caring for pets and loves dogs, she also respected our house rules and took into consideration the temperament of each dog, and took them on a long hike and walks; and stayed at our place until we were back home to give us peace of mind. We absolutely will book her again and would recommend her to anyone looking for someone to look after your lil bud - regardless of size/breed/personality! Easy 10/10!

I would prefer to care for your pet and housesit at your home while you are away. I'm also happy to water plants and collect the mail, and complete any other household tasks that need done while you're away. I enjoy hiking, so depending on the energy level of your pet, I'm happy to go on more exciting weekend adventures too!

Information Crissy M. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your dog has any special needs, behavioral challenges, or anxieties/fears around people or other animals. I do not have breed preferences, but especially love working with rescue pitbulls/pit-mixes. For high energy dogs that need to stay busy, let's chat ahead of time to make sure I'm able to provide the best care around my work schedule!
A typical day
Depending on your location and your dogs temperament, I love exploring the local parks and trails in and around Seattle. Also happy to stay and play in the house/yard with toys! If you have a puppy that is not fully vaccinated, we will probably stay closer to home and play with toys, work on basic training, and go on short walks. Really, whatever your pet enjoys most, I'm happy to entertain that! I'm also always up for giving some love to a snuggly couch potato. I will treat your pet the same way I'd treat my own!

Before I start school, I’m taking it easy this summer, so I am pretty flexible to walk and/or drop-in to check on your best friend. I can housesit too for short periods of time.
