Growing up my wife and I both had pets, which has definitely impacted our want to care and love on every animal we come in contact with. In the past my neighbors and family friends always came to me to help them out with their animals which included horses, pigs, chickens, dogs, cats, fish, etc. I made sure everything was handled the exact way they wanted, now having two dogs of my own I know I would treat your furbabies like they were my own.
