No bones about it, pets are family!
Pet care experience
***I AM TAKING A BREAK FROM ROVER, AS MY CAT IS IN STAGE IV KIDNEY FAILURE. I WILL REMOVE THIS WHEN I'M ACTIVE AGAIN. THANK YOU FOR UNDERSTANDING!*** Hello there! My name is Courtney, and I am thrilled that you chose to give my profile a visit! I am a compassionate, detail-oriented, and enthusiastic dog devotee. I have loved both dogs and cats and lived in a multiple pet household since the day I was born. I volunteer with both a local rescue and run a networking page for North Carolina hounds to find the loving, indoor homes that they so deserve! I have been incredibly passionate about hound rescue since August 2016, when I had the absolute privilege and divine blessing of adopting a beagle/coonhound mix that had been at the kill shelter twice. Very sadly, the doggie love of my life just passed in July 2023 from throat cancer. I am grieving heavily, yet I know my Basil would be thrilled that I can take great care of other dogs while their own families are away and find bits of healing in the process. The love of a dog is something special. But you already knew that, didn't you? :) "Pets are humanizing. They remind us we have an obligation and responsibility to preserve and nurture and care for all life." -James Cromwell
Reviews
Fantastic as usual!! Courtney is the absolute best with my two pups and is such a pleasure to work with!!! Highly recommend!!
What is there to say about Courtney? She was an absolute Angel with my two dogs. Her communication from booking to end was top notch. This was our first time leaving our dogs for an extended time and she made everyone feel so comfortable and cared for. The loveliest girl and truly the best dog sitter we could hope for!! Ready to book another trip just to have her around more!! She is the best and our dogs were so happy to have her taking care of them. A true gem!!
We are so lucky to find Courtney! Our dog was in safe and caring hands. She kept us updated, through out her stay. Thank you
Courtney was amazing with my crew. This was the first time leaving them for a few days and they loved her. She sent me updates and pictures. I would definitely recommend Courtney and will be using her in the future.

I think the most important thing to know about my petsitting is that I treat your pets like I treat my own pets (lavish love on them, practice safety at all times, let them sleep with me in bed, etc.!) As previously noted, my heart hound died of a cancerous mass in July 2023. He was my heart was just the best dog I could have ever hoped to have. I am grieving him heavily, and being around others' dogs has been very therapeutic to me. I am thankful for each and every pet God places in my path and make the most of my time with them.
Information Courtney H. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know the following: 1. Is your pet neutered/spayed? 2. Are they reactive to people, dogs, cats, or other animals? 3. Do they have any separation anxiety? What does that look like? 4. Does your furry fam have any allergies? 5. Which vet do you use? 6. Do you have an emergency contact I could have on file?
A typical day
My typical day with your pet is mostly dependent on your current routine and habits. I will ask you at the Meet and Greet about what your animal's feeding, pottying, and play schedule looks like. To make your pet most comfortable while their #1 person is gone, I tailor my schedule to fit the one they are accustomed to already.

Pet care is my full-time job! I have been a Rover sitter since 2018, but you'll notice I have some gaps in review years. This is because I was teaching off and on during those periods. However, I am now "all in" with housesitting and am able to spend the majority of the day and all of the night with your beloved furry family members! I'd say my choice to be really present with your animals is one of my best sitter traits. I do need to run errands from time-to-time and enjoy eating dinner with my awesome husband, but I am very mindful of time spent away from your home.
