Looking to keep your pup company!

Pet care experience

Dogs teach us so many lessons! They make us laugh until we cry, remind us to enjoy the little things, and forgive us more fully than we sometimes forgive ourselves. As a dog-sitter, I feel as if I’ve found the magic ingredient for living each day to its absolute fullest. The pets in my care bring joy and excitement to my life--and I have so much love to share with them, too. Like the rest of us, dogs have their own personalities and preferences. I approach dogs the same way that I approach human-to-human relationships. I take time to get to know them, building trust by through patient, compassionate interactions. I want them to be completely at ease with me, so I pay close attention to their body language and cues whenever we’re together. Creating a strong foundation and building from there has helped me throughout my twenty-year career working with dogs. In addition to being a dog owner myself for much of my life, I’ve volunteered regularly in shelters and gained ample experience as a pet-sitter across the years. Walks, playtime, grooming, medical care, and belly scratches are all in my repertoire, but I don’t approach any of these activities on autopilot; I focus my full attention on the dogs in my care and treat them with the loving respect that they deserve. I’m authentic, curious, and compassionate--qualities that dogs always appreciate, and also tend to possess. I do have a 7 year old husky that is about 50 lbs. Your dog must get along with my dog for a successful experience for your pet! We also have a fully-fenced, very secure yard where your dog can run, play, and bask in the sunshine as long as they’d like as well as the comfortable living space we have inside!

Courtney was very warm and welcoming with Sadie. I felt very comfortable leaving my senior dog in her care. Her photos and communications during Sadie's 6-day stay with her were excellent.

Courtney came on board to sit our dog Bayou at our home fairly last minute, and went above and beyond our expectations. It's clear she has a gift with dogs, as Bayou has some special needs regarding anxiety. All of the photos and videos we received over the weekend reassured us Bayou was in very good hands and was being kept active and happy. When we got back, Bayou was pooped - but curious as to where her new friend went! We highly recommend Courtney and will definitely book her again for future needs!

Saying Courtney is a dog person is an understatement - she loves dogs more than anyone I've ever met! She is very responsible, reliable, and goes above and beyond to make our dogs feel special. She loves to take our dogs to the dog park or cuddle up with them and has no problem matching the energy levels. We will continue to utilize Courtney for any trips or dog sitting needs we have!

Courtney is flexible, responsible, easygoing, and trustworthy! She is quite active and took my pup for multiple runs to help unleash his endless energy. 10/10 will definitely use again

Information Courtney H. would like to know about your pet

I’m always patient when it comes to getting to know a dog, and I’ll let them get comfortable with me before engaging in playtime. As far as what I’ll want to know, I’m simply looking forward to an open, honest conversation with you at our meet-and-greet. I don’t have an exact checklist, but I’ll ask questions as I’m observing the pup and how you interact. I want to be respectful, supportive, and learn how to love your pup in exactly the way they appreciate most. It takes time, but it’s worth the payoff!

Our specific schedule and activities will depend on your dog’s preferences. For meals and sleeping arrangements, I’ll defer to your usual schedule. Your pup will have full access to the fully fenced yard at any time.

I work from home and generally have a very flexible schedule that allows me to care for your dog! I would love to keep your dog company while you’re at work! I am able to care for your pup throughout the day, taking breaks to walk, play, and cuddle if they’d like. I can be flexible around drop off and pick up times. I do have a middle-aged husky that plays well with other dogs, and especially loves small dogs and puppies! I’m thrilled to get to know more neighborhood pets and hope we can develop an ongoing cadence of care!
