Most of my animal care experience comes from my 12 years in dog 4H. This required me to spend a lot of time with my own dogs and dogs of others. I spent time grooming, training and caring for my dogs all year round in preparation for various dog shows. Although I no longer compete in 4H, I have younger siblings that I help with so I still actively care for dogs. The dogs I showed ranged from a Miniature Schnauzer to a German Shepherd (but at home my family has a Newfoundland) so I have experience with all sizes. My family currently has five dogs so I’ve always been around dogs. I also have experience in a more formal animal care setting. I was Muskingum University’s biology department animal care technician.
