I love dogs, and they love me
Pet care experience
My dog who passed in January 2018 at nearly fifteen had a variety of health issues that I took care of-- including Addison's disease for six years (requiring daily oral meds and a monthly injection at home) and toxoplasmosis which left him paralyzed in his hind legs and required me to carry him around for the last eighteen months of his life. I am therefore very experienced with sick dogs or dogs with other needs. I currently dogsit for a nice boy with heartworm. Dogs tend to respond positively to me, because of my calm nature and because they can sense how much I love dogs. I'm not ready to have another dog of my own yet, so I want to love other people's dogs as much as possible!
Reviews
I was so happy to find Colleen on Rover and she was extremely accommodating with my last-minute dog sitting request. She made my somewhat anxious dog feel at home and got out his energy after a long ride in the car. I will definitely be looking her up again on my next drive through Syracuse!
I can’t help but feel grateful when I think of the relationship we have developed with Colleen since she started dog sitting for our pup, Bear, 3 months ago. From day one, she wanted to make sure that she knew everything about him: from his treats and walking routine down to the medicine he needs to take for his current heartworm treatment. Given our dog’s medical condition, he needs a lot of extra TLC, daily medication, frequent bathroom breaks, and must be kept as calm as possible. I never worry when I go out of town because I know she has everything under control and always sends me updates throughout the day. Our dog just loves spending time with her and I feel at ease knowing he is in such great hands. I highly recommend Colleen to take care of your fur family! She is very reliable, professional, and enthusiastically loves spending time and caring for dogs.
Colleen has a way with dogs like no one I've ever seen. I watched Colleen care for her elderly sick dog right up until the end of his sweet life. Around the clock she was caring for him even while working a full time job. He was paralyzed and she would bathe him multiple times a day to keep him clean and happy. She would carry him outside for fresh air and take him to the park. He had to take multiple medications and she would never miss a dose and always gave him lots of treats to make taking the medicine easier. Now that he has passed on, she has started dog sitting. Every time I pick up my little 4 month old puppy from her house, he is so happy and I can tell that he has been left in the best care. She is kind and patient and even dogs walking on the street can't resist her aura. I highly recommend Colleen to care for your dog.

My first dogs were Irish Wolfhounds, so I love big dogs! But any size is fine. If they are big, I need them to have good leash manners or a Gentle Leader harness, since I am not big myself!
A typical day
I will be happy to take dogs to parks, on walks, and on car rides. I am all about cuddles, and have a couch especially for dogs at my house (it was my dog's couch). My backyard is not huge but it is fully fenced, and there is a park right behind my house.
