I grew up on a horse farm with golden retrievers, cats and horses. In college I was an adoption councillor at Heart of the Valley Animal Shelter in Bozeman, Montana. There I worked with all of the dogs (92 at one time) to help them be a better fit for families looking to adopt. I fell in love with every dog I spent time with and eventually adopted a service dog named Buford. He was an American Bulldog. He went deaf because of his white coat so I adapted by using hand signals and eye contact. When he was eight I adopted another furry friend named nala who is a Shar Pei mix. Buford passed a couple years ago and now I have a kitten that is nalas best friend. Nala has been helping me through life and accompanies me to work most days. I could not imagine my life without the happiness of animals. They have helped train me to be a better person.
