Big yard, Dog Lover and stay home m

Pet care experience

I'm a pet lover since I can remember with pets since I was little. I've been a pug mom for about 7 years and I love it, they are some easy to love and really playful (they are my kids to me). I have used Rover several times when I go on vacations and I have really high standards when it comes to my pets care and I'll hold myself to the same standards to take care of your pet.

I loved leaving my two pug puppies here while away - they still had pugs to play with during the day and a nice family to entertain at night.

We were heart broken when picked up our dogs from Claudia around 5.30 pm on July 15, 2023. We immediately saw both of our Rocky’s eyes were almost closed and covered with green discharge. He looked and acted very distressed and in pain. During their 11 nights boarding, Claudia sent us their pictures on only 3 days and advised us that our dogs were fine. She never advised nor indicated to us about Rocky’s severe eyes being infected and that his eyes were almost closed. Rocky must have been in a long period of many days suffering from his eye infection and not being able to see!! On a positive note, Claudia did seem to administer Rocky’s meds properly for his heart condition which is not related to his eye infection occurred under her sitting . But this makes the eye issue even more infuriating as there is no way it could have been missed. Besides, Rocky’s eyes infection the emergency doctor, also found that Rocky also had a dried grass awn(Foxtail)’s insertion in his left hind limb 3rd & 4th interdigital space!! The doctor removed it . This highly likely was caused by Claudia’s backyard that we saw when we had meet-and-greet meeting. The backyard was basically dirt, dried grass, and evidence of multiple dogs with a lot of dried dog poo. A day before we dropped off both our boys at Claudia’s house, we gave them a bath. They were in good and lively health and freshly cleaned.. They both are indoor dogs and never been left to stay outside, only for playtime and relief breaks. Our assumption is that Claudia left our dogs out side during the day in hot temperatures and in an unsafe & unhealthy for the dogs in her backyard. When we picked them up, both were very stinky, filthy, dirty and very distressed due to the inadequate care. They had very distressed whining when we held them in our arms to take Them home. They were also Seemingly dehydrated and drank a tremendous amount water after we picked them up. So much so that Rocky threw up almost Immediately. We’d like to emphasize again that during their stay, Claudia had never notified us about Rocky’s eye infection condition and never asked us if there was something she should do or how To Care for him. We definitely will not using this sitter again. We are not sure if we still want to continue using Rover as we are Finding that a portion of the vendors on this sight are not Really “dog people” who Give the Love and attention to our pets that we expect. We paid $600 doctor bill to treat his eye infection , to remove foxtail from between his toes and medication including anti-biotic for 10 days. Rocky need to have another follow-up doctor appointment to make sure that his eyes healed properly. That is another doctor bill. We don’t count on Rover’s care guarantee for reimbursement some part as they seem to redirect to something else which is not cover under their policy. Rover also sent us an email which referred to the conditional that was not mentioned in doctor report and put a different dog name which is not our dog on that email. It seemed to be a mistake and confusions made by Rover which should not happen!! We also don’t count of Rover to take responsibility on their own safety policy!!!
