Pet care experience

I've grown up with dogs ranging from various sized crossbreeds, ex police dogs, Old English Sheepdogs, GSD, greyhounds, etc. I have a particular fondness for Bullmastiffs, but lets be honest, if it's a dog, I'm guaranteed to fall in love. I also foster rescue dogs helping to rehabilitate and prepare them ready for adoption and this has included dogs with separation anxiety, resource guarding and having multiple dogs who were not from the same country. This gives me enormous pleasure to help an unwanted, unloved and often, shut down dog, blossom into a beautiful, fun loving pet with a new home of their own. Recently, my adorable Rottweiler, Sarge went to rainbow bridge and this has left a huge hole in my heart and home. He was an assistance dog (trained by me) for my son. I have two dog savvy children, one of which is disabled and who finds an infinity with his canine friends.

Clare & her family were amazing with our pups! First time leaving them with anybody & it couldn’t have gone any better. They were both happy & had a great time. 1 of ours can be quite anxious & Clare was great at making sure he was ok & they both made themselves at home! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Clare's very experienced with dogs who might be 'tricky' or who've had a rough time, which made her perfect for our Mr Hyperactive and Ms Eeyore (names changed to protect the innocent)! She's been absolutely brilliant with them, ably assisted by the kids, and they had a wonderful time despite one's health issues and the other's separation anxiety. I'm so grateful we found someone who really 'gets' dogs and what makes them tick. They've come home so chilled - a real holiday! Thanks so much Clare!

Brilliant family environment for our precious Duchess. She's actually sad today I think she misses them. Thank you for taking such good care.

Safety, trust & environment

I have a large fully enclosed garden, long lines, raised and slow feeders, various beds, lots of natural chews and even crates, if needed. Your dog will be treated as my own, loved and spolit. Due to my son's disabilities, all dogs that stay with us must be house trained, have the usual manners and be low vocal dogs. My son self harms if there is too much noise or unruly activity.

Information Clare M. would like to know about your pet

I am happy to take two dogs from a single household as a bonded pair. I have stairgates and crates to keep your puppies safe, but much prefer it if you are able to bring their own home from home comforts. I can provide high quality complete dry food if required, though if you supply their usual food this limits any tummy upsets. If your baby stays with me during term time, they must be ok to be left alone for 30 minutes twice a day for the school run or to accompany us where they will encounter lots of children. To help your dog start their holiday, I like to know their feed schedule, where they sleep, the words used for their basic commands, favourite game, if they react to men, other dogs, foxes, etc. If they are OK with household appliances, etc and information such as if they have any allergies or not allowed any human food.

A typical day

We will usually start off with a sniffy walk to catch up the local canine news, lol. Back home for a rest while I work or catch up with the children. We can play fetch, do scent work, teach tricks or can snuggle depend on what your dog prefers. I really do suit your dogs needs. Your dog will be exposed to wheelchairs whilst on walks too, but if this doesn't suit them my garden is large enough to exercise various sizes and energy level dogs.

Availability

I am semi retired and do hybrid working where I get to choose when and where I work! This allows me to plan around the needs of my children and your dog. My children are home based at the weekends and school holidays so we can easily bestow lots of love and attention on your pup as we don't have a lot of 'comings and goings' to cause disruption your pooch while on holiday with us.
