Loving pre-vet pet caregiver!
Pet care experience
I am currently a pre-veterinary student at Duke university and president of the pre-vet society on campus! On top of owning and caring for my own pets since the first grade, I’ve worked as a kennel technician and clinical assistant for over 4 years now which has allowed me to work with a multitude of dogs and cats and gain experience with walking, feeding, administering medicine, etc. I am constantly learning how to be a better pet caregiver, but caring for animals is truly a passion of mine!
Reviews
Claire did a wonderful job taking care of our girls. She sent lots of pictures and videos and provided regular updates and feedback on how they were doing.
We just moved to the area and needed to go out of town for a wedding so we needed to find a reliable pupsitter quickly. Thankfully we found Claire! Her calm demeanor is exactly what my pups need! She did an amazing job watching the pups and taking care of our house! She sent lots of pics and gave regular, very detailed updates! I have worked in the pet industry for over 18 years now, and have heard of many horror stories with pupsitters so I don’t trust just anyone with my little ones, but I do trust Claire. I highly, highly recommend her!!!
Claire house-sat for us during our vacation and did an excellent job caring for our dogs and cats. We returned to a clean and well-maintained home full of happy babes.
Claire is the absolute best. She is a thoughtful house sitter and cleaned the house before we got home. Even better, she is a kind and patient human that my anxious dog loved. I’ll be booking Claire again!!!

Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
Before bookings, I prefer to have meet and greets as I prioritize the comfortability of both the pet and the pet owner with my presence! Many pets deal with a lot of anxiety, and sometimes some people are just not the people they want to be left with/spend time with; therefore a meet and greet can allow me to see if an animal would trust/be happy with being cared for by me! In bookings, I maintain clear communication with clients through constant keeping of my phone on me in case of emergencies or contact. I believe my love for animals as a prospective veterinarian truly does set my level of care apart! I was trained to care for animals properly and kindly through my own experience with pets and during my time at the clinics I worked for/currently work for. I have marked that I can not administer injection medication; while I have experience doing so from my job, I do not have experience with every injection medications for pets, so I can discuss that with you separately if that is something your pet needs!

Information Claire S. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if there are any things your pet severely dislikes! Anything that can aggravate or irritate them. I always want to foster a positive, stress-free environment for pets! Also please let me know if your pet has any health issues, necessary medication, and if he/she has a habit that might catch me off guard (suddenly trying to jolt into a run while on walks, if your pet is an escape artist where they like to try and escape from, etc)!
A typical day
I love to incorporate a mix of physical and mental stimulation through exercise and intelligence tasks! There are many mental/intelligence stimulation activities that dogs and cats can do that keep their minds running and also allows them to have fun! And I always leave time for comfort and cuddles so they can also have some calming time receiving love :)! There are many great walking paths around Duke’s campus, though I prefer to take walking paths that dogs are most familiar/comfortable with if they deal with any level of anxiety with new spaces and environments!

Availability
I will always thoroughly communicate my course schedule with owners in order to ensure that my schedule works for them! I also have a research lab position with extremely flexible hours and a lot of at home work hours. I am able to clearly communicate my schedule availability once in direct communication with pet owners!
