Pet care experience
I’ve worked as a veterinary technician for the last 3 years and I’m currently a vet student at UMN. I have experience training service dogs and absolutely love watching them learn new skills to someday help people. Between training and my medical/behavioral knowledge, I feel very confident watching young puppies, senior pets, or animals requiring medical attention.
Reviews
Claire was wonderful - very communicative, shared pictures and updates each day, and took great care of our dogs. She even worked on training with our pup. She left our house in great shape too!
Very responsible, attention to detail - 10/10 would recommend! Claire took care of our pup in our home while we were gone over a long weekend. She asked lots of questions to make sure she knew the routine and was great at communicating with us before and during our trip.
Claire did a great job with our girls and sent updates exactly when we needed them and helped tremendously with our senior dog especially who needs some extra TLC. She is very professional and we were very happy to have her help, especially on Christmas!
Claire is a great communicator and very responsive. She is fantastic with the dogs and their schedules and special quirks! The dogs love her and are very comfortable and relaxed when she stays with them. I don’t even worry for a second when the dogs are in her care! Claire is awesome!
About Claire S.
Communication
Skills
Safety, trust & environment
I keep a close eye on the animals I care for to ensure their safety (I’ve assisted in too many foreign body surgeries!!) I believe mental stimulation is just as important as physical, so I like to try and use puzzle feeders or feed meals through training sessions if applicable
Information Claire S. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know about any specific commands you have for your pets (such as sitting before crossing the street, “okay” as a release word, etc).
A typical day
I like to hand feed meals through training sessions! Whether that’s practicing loose leash walking or learning a new trick, mental stimulation is very important for dogs! I generally like to walk around the lakes. If your dog likes car rides, I like driving to a more scenic area to walk around.

Availability
I will be working mostly remotely this summer (May-Aug) with occasional days on the UMN St. Paul campus, so my pet care schedule is fairly flexible! FOR BOOKING REQUESTS PAST AUGUST 2024: I don’t have my class schedule for next year yet and do not want to commit to bookings unless you’re okay with me possibly being out of the house 8AM-5PM. Please do not send requests for the fall unless your pet is okay with me possibly on campus all day!
