Pet care experience
I’ve had family pets (dogs, Guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, etc.) since I was born, and was always expected to care for those pets and my own as well. I have been a dog walker, dog sitter, and cat sitter since I was old enough to do so, and have been an animal person for my entire life. I can provide references for those services, as well as house sitting services! I have a great reputation with even the most frightful/anxious/reactive dogs I’ve cared for, and will take time with your pet to get to know their likes/dislikes and individual personality (and selfishly, I get more time with a furry friend this way).

I really appreciate Claire’s patience and care with my dogs. I have two rescues, one is super social and one is really anxious. She worked well with both and was able to balance both of their needs (making sure my friendly dog got all her energy out at the park while she helped my anxious puppy feel comfortable in a quieter spot away from larger dogs). They both had great naps too, which really helps me out while I’ve been working from home. I definitely recommend Claire, she’s a natural animal lover and it shows with my pets!

I make sure to leash all pets in unfamiliar/unsecured areas and to identify each pet’s strengths/weaknesses to assess appropriate environments for them. I love pats and snuggles, and am happy to clean up messes in the house, should they occur. I have trained several dogs in basic commands, and love to employ intellectual stimulation in play as well as physical exercise.

I am open to caring for all dogs. Lots of pets have specific conditions, behaviors, and needs because they are individuals, just as we are! I would only ask for a briefing on these needs and tendencies ahead of time (the ones that would require my attention). Having worked with shelter dogs with all kinds of backgrounds, I am adaptable and flexible, and value taking care to understand each dog I work with. Also, with a desire to go into medicine, I am not squeamish when it comes to administering medications (injection or orally) or caring for wounds, skin conditions, ear conditions, etc.
A typical day
I enjoy the classic games (fetch, chase, hide and seek) but also love to engage the intellectual side. I make DIY (safety ensured) activities to challenge your dog’s mind. I love walking in nature preserves or trails, but also love a classic street walk!

Availability
I am a recent college graduate, and am taking a gap year at home before attending nursing school. This means I have a TON of availability both during the day and at night/overnight, as well as my own car.
