Pet care experience
Hello! My name is Claire and I am a long-distance running, outdoor adventuring, cancer biology researching scientist who is equally passionate about pets and animals. I have been caring for animals through personal pets for 16 years, but for the last 8 years I have been volunteering at animal shelters and veterinary clinics in animal care. This experience has given me advanced skills in walking dogs (of all sizes!), animal behavior, training, grooming, and medical care. With this, I am able to provide a large variety of services and can say with great confidence that your pet is in very capable hands. The central dogma that drives my passion for animals and pet care is that every pet’s needs are different and they deserve the attention and care to create a happy, fun, and healthy environment. This is the environment I would create for your fur baby when they are in my care. My high-activity lifestyle means no dog is too energetic, and I am equally prepared to snuggle on a couch to a movie. Additionally, my home comes with my own personal fur babies - Matilda the black lab and Aro and Toothless the cats. Tillie provides and calm and loving energy to the environment along with the playfulness that comes with any lab 🐶 Aro and Toothless are cool and calm cats and that is happy to share space with any respectful dog. I am excited to work with you and meet your fur babies!
Reviews
This is the second time we have had Claire’s help! We really appreciate how informative and kind she is. Very responsible and trustworthy! Obviously cares about animals and keeps an eye out for anything that may be amiss! Definitely will use her again.
Claire was a fantastic host to my senior little guy, Oliver. She was very flexible with drop-off and pick-up times and sent daily updates with pictures. Her pets are laid back and well-behaved and everyone got along well together. She went above and beyond and gave Oliver special treats (frozen pumpkin puree!), took him to the dog park, and after a two week playful stay even gave him a bath. She's a great host and we'd recommend her and will happily use her again in the future!
Claire was amazing! She did a great job with Apollo (my cat), and even though he's not one to warm up to others, they managed to survive the week intact. He seems generally happy and well fed and taken care of, and Claire has done everything I've asked of her, and is very detail oriented. Thanks a lot!
Claire was the perfect sitter!

I live on the main level of a triplex with a small unfenced outdoor area and plenty of space for walking. All of my animals are crate trained to allow for safe cohabitation and relaxation when I am working, and I have good play space both in my apartment and nearby to let the zoomies out at the end of the day ☺️ I pride myself on creating a calm and fun atmosphere for your pet and taking things at their speed to ensure their comfort.
Information Claire D. would like to know about your pet
Things I would love to know about your fur baby: 1. What is the energy level of your dog? Approximately how much exercise do they like during a day? 2. Does your dog have any fears I should be aware of? 3. Is your dog comfortable around other dogs? 4. Is your dog reliable out of a kennel? Or would you like me to kennel your pet? I do not have any breed preferences! I am a fan of all ☺️
A typical day
Having an active lifestyle means that no pup is “too energetic”. If a community play place is your pups speed, I live close to many dog parks and love to go there with my own dog, Matilda. I am also extremely close to the Mystic Trail, and love a long (or short) walk outside. Additionally, if running is something that your dog appreciates or may enjoy, I have experience running long or short distances with dogs and would love to chat about it! And while I do have a lot of active hobbies, I also have a very comfortable and open couch and bed that is perfect for snuggling. I am also open to talking about basic training experiences for long-term stays as well!

I work full time out of town from 8-4 during the week but am extremely active in the evenings and over the weekends! I love having adventures with the pets and loving up on them after I’m done working.
