We’re a family with lots of love to give

Pet care experience

I have been used to looking after dogs since I was a child, often taking care of dogs for family members and friends. I have always for as long as I can remember had a cat also. Even now with my own partner and children, I often look after dogs and cats for friends and family. I am a stay at home mum to 4 children, who absolutely adore animals. Our house is busy with 6 of us, so any dog or cat coming to spend time with me and my family, will never be short of attention or affection. We currently have a cat called “Poppy” and we have wanted a dog of our own for a while now, and we are currently trying to save up to be able to get a dog of our own at some point in the future. We are a family who loves to get out for walks to parks and sometimes the beach and we love being able to take a dog with us. Being a stay at home mum means I have plenty of time during the day to care for and spend time with cats or dogs.

Huggy absolutely adores his walks with Claire and her family, and I get lovely pics too! Claire's always my go-to person and walks Huggy every week.

Claire and her partner came to take Huggy on his first ever walk with a dog walker. They were great with him! So kind and caring. He's a little nervous in new situations so he was giddy when he got back inside, but I'm 100% confident asking Claire to walk him in future as he seemed settled once he got going.

First time we have used Claire and would happily use again. Communication was brilliant at all times and I was very happy that my dog was in safe hands

Safety, trust & environment

We have a spacious garden which is fenced. We have safety gates due to having a toddler at home. Our cat Poppy is usually hiding somewhere upstairs under a bed. We are easy going and so would be happy to let dog sleep on a bed and be on the sofa, although if that isn’t what you let your pet do, then we are happy to follow your rules. We always keep an extra watchful eye on our children when we have pets to stay, and they would never be left alone together unsupervised.

Information Claire B. would like to know about your pet

Being a family with children of all age groups (from 1 year up to 13) I would obviously need to make sure any pet would be good around them. As well, I would want to make sure they are ok with cats. For these reasons, I will require a Meet and Greet and if your dog will need 3 nights or more, then I would ask for a trial overnight stay, just to make sure everyone involved is comfortable, happy and above all safe. I will only take clients that have filled in all the details on their profile, so that I have all the important information about you and your dog, especially medical history, dietary requirements and any special needs that your dog may have. It is also important that all your dogs vaccinations are up to date and I will need evidence of this through certification, as well as evidence of microchipping or ID tags. Dogs must be treated for fleas, worms and ticks. I want to know whether your dog is happy around other dogs, and will need written consent for this. As I have young children in the home, I wouldn’t allow dogs to be upstairs, and so they would sleep downstairs at night.

A typical day

A typical day with our family is busy. During the week, there a typically school runs to do, which I would be happy to take a dog along with me and visit the local park on the way home for a walk and fresh air. During the day would be quieter, with my toddler at home who is learning how to be gentle with animals and has had lots of practice with our cat and also with dogs of friends. Being a stay at home mum means I am able to spend quality time with a dog. Weekends usually involves taking kids to dance classes or rugby, but there is always someone who can stay home to stay with a dog or we can take them along with us. As a family we all enjoy playing ball games and throwing sticks, and using toys to play with dogs we have looked after before. Some dogs we have looked after haven’t been overly active and have preferred to relax on the sofa with one of us, which we are more than happy to do as well. We are a pretty easygoing family, and are happy to go with whatever the dog or owners prefer.

I am a stay at home mum and so I am around most of the time and would be able to take a dog along with me on school runs etc, if a dog isn’t happy being left for short periods of time. During the evenings, weekends and school holidays we like to go for walks to the park so we would be more then happy to take a dog along with us. Usually there will be someone at home so a dog would always have company. As I am a stay at home mum, I have plenty of spare time to be able to care for pets, as long as I can take my youngest child along with me.
