Retired Vet Tech with 8 pets
Pet care experience
My pets are my kids! And I had always wanted to be a vet, but I thought I couldn't afford it. Then at the age of 52, I earned an AA degree as a Licensed Veterinary Technician. I worked at a local vet hospital for 10 years prior to retiring. I always focused on the pets and owners feelings and needs, and listened. Lots of the pets were frightened. I learned handling techniques and various animal behavior signs to ease their fear and determine their mood. We had many pets that I became enamored with, who were always glad to see me. My duties included handling, feeding, walking, medicating, bathing, filling prescriptions, texting photos and progress reports to the owners and lots of customer service and phone calls. Half of my hours were spent with surgery, including running bloodwork, prep., anesthesia, monitoring vital signs, dental hygienist, radiology, wound care, pharmacy, patient discharge instructions with the owner, and callbacks the next day. These "pets" are peoples kids! I started caring for our family pets when I was about 6 years old. I've handled dogs, cats, exotics, farm animals and disabled pets. When one of my German Shepherds lost the use of her back legs, I bought a wheel chair and taught her how to use it. I know when to call the vet. I learned techniques for handling animals without creating unneeded stress. I use a combination of treats, toys, distractions, slow movements, soft low voice, body language, eye contact or lack of, and various others. I say my 8 animals are all my service animals, because they are always giving me joy. My children. 3 big dogs, 3 cats, a horse and a mini horse. I've had animals my whole life, and was one of those horse crazy little girls, who wanted to be a vet. I'm usually at home or riding on Taylor Mt with my horse Libby, and my shepherd Magical. My day starts with a loud tail banging on the dresser next to the bed, then a kissie face cleaning from my shepherd Rodeo. Next comes my other shepherd Magicals' kisses, then my collie Merlins', who just won't stop! My night ends when my cat Zorro snuggles with me under the the covers.

I have known cindy 10 years. We worked together at a Vet Hospital and she has great knowledge for the care of animals. Her amazing love for the animal world definitely matches mine.......she has even watched my own pets!
I have known Cindy L. for over 15 years. She has become a great friend and neighbor. She has the most wonderful compassion for animals of all shapes and sizes. I have used Cindy many times to care for my dogs and horse. I always feel secure in knowing they are in her care. With her Vet Tech knowledge she is a wealth of knowledge and hands on experience for any emergency. I believe she would be a great addition to Rover.com. I would highly recommend you hire her!
