Experience pup lover and caregiver!

Pet care experience

I have worked as a Veterinary Kennel Assistant, a Dog Daycare Worker, and a Veterinary Technician for a total of 11 years; I have also worked as a petsitter for a select few clients at my clinic. I've owned 3 dogs, a corgi (my baby boy), a rottweiler/labrador mix, and a german shepherd/Belgian malinois mix. I had my corgi from 8 weeks old to 17 years old, so I'm familiar with caring for all ages of puppyhood. I am also comfortable taking care of pups with special needs, my corgi was diagnosed as epileptic when he was 8. I am a big supporter of training dogs, so I am more than happy to practice any training routines you have in place whenever I visit!

I’m so happy that we found Chris to take care of our dog, June! He is so great with her and always sends photos and updates throughout the day. I know that June is in the best hands and we are so lucky to have Chris as her weekly walker!! Highly recommend him and his services :)

We have used Chris as our pet caretaker for years now when we travel out of town. He cares for our pets as if they’re his own and always does a great job sending us updates on how they’re doing…I couldn’t recommend him enough!

Christopher has been our primary dog sitter and dog walker for several years now. He is always very personable and respectful, and our dogs love him! Christopher is very conscientious about visiting our dogs, feeding them on time, playing with them, and walking them. We come home to happy healthy dogs. I highly recommend Christopher for any pet care needs!

If you can't be there for your pet, then I can't think of anyone else more trustworthy and excited to be taking care of your pet! Christopher has tons of experience in working with all sorts of dogs, and you can tell that he enjoys working and playing with every dog he meets. He is responsible and has always gone above and beyond in ensuring that my doggo is always taken care of and having fun!

When visiting your home to care for your pup, the first thing I do when I arrive is make sure that your pet is happy and healthy. In the event that there is a mess, I will clean your pet as much as possible, including bathing when necessary; if this includes damage to your property, I will let you know immediately. If there is a concern that your pet has ingested any foreign material, I will proceed according to your request, including taking them to your designated veterinarian. As long as everything looks to be in order, I'll take your pet out to go to the bathroom according to your instruction, whether that is walking them, letting them run in the backyard, or taking them down to your local dog park. I always change the water bowl to maintain fresh water and will clean any dirty dish bowls. I can also give medications as instructed, however, as part of my diligence instilled as a veterinary technician, please inform me of any differences in your personal medication instructions and the labeled medication instructions on the bottle; my primary concern is your pet's health and wellbeing, I don't want to jeopardize their health through incorrect medicating. When leaving the home, I triple-check everything starting with 1) Making sure that your pet is securely contained as per your instructions (for example, crated, placed in a designated bedroom, or simply left to roam the house), 2) Making sure that all doors leading to off-limit areas are closed and secured, 3) Making sure all doors leading outside are closed and secured/locked.

Information Christopher J. would like to know about your pet

Let me know whether or not your pup is allowed to interact with other dogs on our walks or at the dog park. Please let me know if your pup has any medical conditions, such as UTIs, kidney or liver disease, heart disease, seizures, diabetes, limping, coughing or sneezing, or is experiencing inappetence, vomiting, or diarrhea. Knowing these conditions helps me adjust our activities accordingly.

A typical day

I enjoy taking pups on long walks through their neighborhood, visiting local dog parks (if they like playing with other dogs), and playing fetch in the back yard! I love playing tug-of-war with toys and am known to rough house with a few of the bigger fellas (if mom and dad are ok with that). If you'd like, I can also take your pup to places like Brewhound or Dogwood if you have a membership. I will also spend time practicing whatever training regiments you have with your pup to help them grow into the best pupper they can be!
