Loving home with fenced yard
Pet care experience
We grew up around medium-to-large sized dogs and about a decade ago, after settling down and starting a family, we again enjoyed the company of dogs in our home for a number of years. While our two boys (11 and 13) love dogs and are gentle and playful with them, at least one adult is always present to supervise. We are quite flexible since most of my work is home office-based, Heidy works part-time, and our boys' busy schedules keep us close to home most of the time. In addition, I welcome the opportunity to get outside the house for short walks, and a dog is a natural companion depending on his/her profile or need to get outside on the leash. Our fenced backyard is also available. We try to make our home a warm, loving environment, and there is plenty of space here for a pet to feel comfortable and relaxed. My two sons greatly enjoy the company of dogs and we are a family that is familiar with all types of sizes and breeds. That said, we understand the need to have parental supervision and either my wife or I am around to supervise the relationship and play activities at all times.

Chris and Heidy are the best sitters! They are exceptionally responsible, reliable, and kind, and they are dog-lovers. They are also easy to schedule and work with. I love that they take Kapi out for good, long walks exploring the neighborhood and nearby parks, which is Kapi’s favorite activity. They send daily photos that are so beautiful, they are keepers. Kapi clearly loves them and loves to stay at their house. It gives me great peace of mind to know that Kapi is happy and well cared-for during my travels. Kapi so enjoys his time with Chris and Heidy, I feel like he is getting a vacation, too!

We only have one dog at a time with us, and devote our full attention to him/her during the visit. A thorough cleaning is given to the first floor in between visitors. Our family/tv room area - where our boys like to spend time as well - doubles as a comfy dog area and we open up other rooms as needed for our visitors to explore. There is a sliding door with easy access to the fenced backyard.

We are happy to adjust our style depending on a pet's personality and age. Some dogs/breeds are more homebody types and others have lots of energy and need to be outside a lot of the time. We can do both - with four of us rotating in and out of the house, he/she will always be well accompanied. Obvious considerations like food, meal times etc. are important to know as well.
A typical day
We like to let dogs be dogs - though sometimes they act like humans! We accompany them to make sure they are safe but also have the flexibility to stop and sniff as much as desired or go in the direction they want to explore. We live in an area perfect for dog walking, with quiet streets, friendly neighbors, and a green park with paths nearby. Our family has a lot of experience in scratching in just the right place, which is much appreciated by our canine friends. Most importantly, we love animals and treat them as well as we can at all times.

Availability
At least one person is home nearly all of the time, as we have somewhat flexible schedules including a remote work-from-home arrangement for one of us. We make sure our visitor gets plenty of attention, and this is supplemented by our sons who enjoy animals and are often home on weekends and after school hours.
