Pooch Walking & Care

Pet care experience

I know from personal experience that heading out and leaving the pup behind can be nerve-racking - for you and your friend. I'd love to come over and play with, feed, walk, and water your dog while you're at work or away for the day. I've been raising and living with dogs for most of my life and absolutely ADORE them. I've been without my own 4-legged friend for 7 years, and I'm getting my fix by loving up yours. My experience includes both pet and house sitting in locations around the U.S., and I've had the pleasure of spending time with dogs both large and small, puppy to senior. If you want to chat about my experience and how I can care for your pet please contact me! I'd love to connect.

House Sitting • Aug 03, 2016

I came to Rover.com after my male boxer was kicked out of doggy camp for being aggressive. This stressed my out especially after I had already booked 2 future stays with this kennel for the summer. Who was I going to find to care for my corky and sometimes troublesome boxers when a professional could even handle their overly playful and sometimes needy personalities? I stumbled across Rover.com. I knew nothing about their services. I schedule a meet and great and we immediately liked Christine. She came off as very calm and relaxed when we first meet her. She listened to everything we had to tell her (even if it was mostly anecdotal) and she asked questions. We scheduled 3 days for Christine to house sit for our 2 boxers and 3 Tortoises (“Yep 3 Tortoises – you won’t see that on the menu”). We left home around noon and made our way up to camp and before I even cracked open my first beer I got a text message from Christine with a photo of our Boxier Babies. That was the best thing – My dogs are not aggressive. They are boxers - they are high strong. The bounce around my house and pretty much everywhere they go. I have had neighbors watch my dogs in the past and I was not pleases with how the dogs behaved after our return. We could see they appeared to be annoyed and on edge at the slightest noise or action. I say this because when we returned home from our camping trip we were greeted with the most chilled out dogs we had ever seen. They gracefully woke-up from their slumber and stood at their kennel gates to be let out. They were also completely calm as they walked around the hours and back yard. They did not bark at a thing. Usually after being gone for a day at work our boxer’s act like they have to be on high alert after we return home. I don’t know what Christine did but WOW. Our dogs looked and acted like they had a restful and relaxing time while we were gone. They did not bark when we came home. They did not act like they had pent up playfulness they needed to get out. They were happy mannered, calm, and bright eyed. They were so relaxed. The tortoises were great too. Having a house sitter was the right decision for us. Both of dogs were rescued 2-3 years ago. We could tell Christine’s calm demeanor had a great impact on the dog’s behavior while we were gone. I could not have asked for a better experience.

A typical day

I'm all about flexibility and doing what's best for your dog regarding feeding, exercise, rest, and play. Typical walks and drop-in visits last 30-minutes or you can book a 60-minute option. Either way, your dog will get the activity and attention they need. We can walk the neighborhood, visit the local park, toss a ball or frisbee, or whatever your pooch loves to do - with plenty of pets and ear scratches along the way. The best part about pet-sitting for me is getting to walk and play with the dogs I watch - so we'll definitely plan for lots of fun! I rely on you, the owner, for basic instructions about food, water, bathroom breaks, etc. and any other info I need to make sure your pet gets the best care possible.
