Run for the hills! Unless you want to be lied to and have your pet neglected, that is. Booked Christina to drop in and check on our cat while we were out of town. On the second day, I messaged her at the time of check-in to ask how our cat was doing. Since she wasn’t responding, I looked at our home camera. She wasn’t there. I kept it on for the entire 30 mins the visit was supposed to last, but she never showed up. Then, she texted me that the cat was doing great and eating. She even texted a picture! Which I assume she took the night before. In reality, the food bowl was empty and my poor guy was just curled up on the couch and hadn’t moved an inch. Our housekeeper came per my request and they confirmed he had no food left. Christina arrived that evening for the second drop off. She fed him and spent the rest of the time on her phone. Didn’t play with him or brush him as I had asked. Then she left the house 10 mins early, yet cleverly clocked out on the app at the right time. At this point, I’m feeling completely cheated. Next day, she’s a no show. Cat is again out of food. I text her. I call her. No reply. I’ve finally had enough and cancel. She messages shortly after saying her daughter had been in the ER since that morning and was just discharged. I understand emergencies happen, but the previous lies and behavior make me doubt this was true. And even if it was, the inability to communicate is a big red flag, as is the lack of integrity, the lying about being there, and the cutting visits short just because they think you’re an idiot who won’t ever know. This is an animal that’s relying on the sitter for food and water, not a rock. Thank goodness my cat has no medication that needs to be administered or other special needs! I would never ever trust her with our pet again, and neither should anyone else.
