I love allowing dogs to be dogs!

Pet care experience

Hi there! My experience with dogs comes mostly from having a medium-large rescue dog of my own. She passed about a year and a half ago, but walking her 3 miles per day was something I took a lot of pride in. I also have many friends and family members that have dogs that I have helped to walk and dog-sit. Dogs inherently want to explore and I enjoy taking dogs on walks where they are free to smell and occasionally run (on leash and as long as I can keep up, haha). I work in the public health field and staying active is very important to me, so dog walking is a perfect fit. I also regularly volunteer with an animal rescue, the SPCA and the Buffalo animal shelter. I work full-time downtown so I'm interested in walking before (7-8AM) and after (5:30PM onward) work. Evenings and weekends are an option, based on availability. I do have other commitments in the evenings such as volunteering and yoga class, but as long as I have a few days notice I can do my best to shift things around and accommodate you. In the Fall I am starting a full-time PhD program at UB south campus and I will have a more flexible schedule during the weekdays and I will be much closer to home (opportunity for lunch time walks)

Christina was great! Trustworthy, responsible, reliable. She took my dog on several long walks per day and made sure to send me pictures throughout the stay.

I would highly recommend Christina to care for your dog(s)! I have 2 rescue dogs with special needs and Christina is incredibly understanding when it comes to meeting my fur babies needs. I do not leave my fur babies with just anyone, but I am always able to rest assured when I leave my fur babies in Christina's care! Christina goes above and beyond to make the experience enjoyable for both my fur babies and I. She is easy to communicate with which is very important to me. I would highly recommend Christina to be your pet sitter!! My dogs look forward to her visits!

Christina is a kind and loving dog caregiver. She volunteers with a local rescue and is extremely responsible and committed. She has loved and cared for dogs and cats with medical needs and her level of compassion is amazing. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a dog sitter. You can rest assured that your furry family member will be well taken care of.

Christina is an incredible dog walker. I have never seen anyone with the same ability to so accurately imitate the gait and hip movements. Despite her physical limitations, such as her hind legs being longer than her front, she is able to keep a straight back and her head held high. She tucks her fingertips in such a way you'd swear she had real paws. When she lets her hair down, she's easily mistaken as a lhasa apso. She can even scratch behind her ears with her feet. She's also adept at fetch, though I recommend a stick or frisbee as she has a difficulty fitting a tennis ball in her mouth.

Information Christina K. would like to know about your pet

It would be nice to know how your dog walks on leash in regards to pulling and how they react to other dogs in the neighborhood. It would helpful to know if your dog has good recall and responds to his/her name. I am comfortable walking larger dogs if they are older and/or very relaxed on the leash. My dog was 65 pounds but a senior dog. I am strong and can hold my own pretty well, but if you have a large dog that pulls a lot I wouldn't want to put your dog at risk of breaking free. My dog and I were attacked by a neighborhood dog in 2012, so I unfortunately cannot work with dogs that have any history of aggression.

A typical day

I will mainly walk in your neighborhood and any park that may be nearby. I believe in allowing a dog to stop and smell and explore at leisure, but still making sure to get a good walk in too. I can be sure to play with your dog's favorite toys and play in your fenced in yard, if available. If am watching your dog in you home, I will do my best to mirror your normal routine (walks/meal time/play time; etc). Having a routine was so important with my anxious senior dog, so I understand the anxiety of leaving your dog behind and wanting their routine to stay the same. I have no problem rearranging my schedule to accommodate your needs.
