Canine Certified

Pet care experience

Hi, I'm Christina and I love dogs! I have 1 rescue of my own- Charlee is 11. She is a lovable lap dogs with a large personality. We enjoy walks, fetch, "singing," dancing and many other activities. I'm a dog lover with previous Foster experience. I have a love for the Canine Breed from Babies to Seniors. I live on a spacious property where your fur-baby will have plenty room to run, walk, play and explore. My sons are all Boy Scouts with their canine certification and have 1 year formal training in small animaI care, have experience in animal First Aid/CPR, and do not have any small animals, cats, or small children in home. My first level is mostly hardwood and we have facilities to accommodate all sizes and breeds. I look forward to being there for you for all of your dog-related needs!

We picked up our girls today and they are both very happy to see us. The thing that tells us that they were well treated that they weren’t crying like they have in the past. They were just happy. Thank you to Christina and her family for taking such good care of our family!

Christina was very kind and I felt comfortable leaving my pups with her over the weekend when we went out of town. She sent pictures and I will definitely request to book with her in the future.

DO NOT USE THIS SITTER! I should have went with my gut instinct, and now I’m regretting that I didn’t. My husband and I have 3 dogs and have struggled to find affordable care for our dogs in the area. We hadn’t used Rover in years, and finally decided to turn to Rover, so that we could go away for an extended weekend for our Anniversary (typically we just kennel, go with neighbors, or go through an ad). Upon initially contacting Christina, based on her high rated reviews, I found it odd that she didn’t request a “meet and greet”, as we’ve always had with every dog sitter we’ve ever had in the past (both through Rover and otherwise). So I requested a meet and greet. Upon loading up our 3 dogs (a 2 year old Goldendoodle, a 4 1/2 year old Cavapoo, and a 15 year old Maltese), we arrived to her house at the scheduled time, only to find no one home. After ringing the doorbell for several minutes, we were just about to leave when she whipped in the driveway. Walking past us, she never apologized for being late, nor did she introduce herself; there was an awkward silence on her end, as we followed her inside her house, and introduced ourselves. She asked no questions about our dogs habits, as we were forthcoming with things we wanted to make sure she was aware of (including that our Cavapoo was on seizure medication that he MUST take twice daily). The meet and greet didn’t go over well, but needing care for our dogs, we went ahead and went forward with the scheduled trip. The night before our trip, I sent Christina a message asking if I needed to bring their bowls, in which she replied “no” (now I know why, which I’ll get to in a minute). The morning of, we arrived at 7am sharp to drop our dogs off, and after ringing the bell for several minutes, Christina’s teenage son arrived at the door half asleep to let us in; our dog sitter Christina no where in sight. He tried to just take their leashes, but my husband and I wanted to reiterate that our Cavapoo (Finley) needed his seizure medication twice daily (it has to build up in his system). Upon picking him up, we find that he came back with 4 of the capsules, which means that he missed several doses of his prescription medication; at most, there should only be one capsule remaining. I asked where our dogs would be sleeping, since I asked if I needed to bring their kennels, and was told that I didn’t need to. He said that they just sleep all over the house, but that they “put some in the basement if it gets to be too many”. This alarmed me, and I almost took my dogs home, but again, I tried to be open minded and hope for the best. The first evening we were out of town, I heard nothing in regards to our pets…no photos, no updates, nothing. I would expect that someone who is watching our dogs for the very first time, would also be understanding that updates are helpful for pet parents, who are leaving their dogs with a stranger for the first time, but she either was completely oblivious to this, or didn’t care. I finally broke down and messaged Christina ,who replied back some time later that they were “good”. That would be the last I would hear from her for the remainder of our trip. We returned home a bit earlier than we expected from our trip. We were due to return 7am Tuesday morning, but instead returned 6pm on Monday evening. Truth be known, I was worried about my animals, because I have one who is very old, and another who is on a prescription medication for epilepsy, and I was not getting any updates, and had a bad feeling that something was wrong. We didn’t request a refund for the remaining night that she wouldn’t have them; Christina has a cancellation policy of nearly $40 that is imposed if you pick up early, and I just wanted to pick up my dogs, so I let her keep the balance, in exchange for not paying her cancellation fee. Upon picking up my dogs, we were met outside by Christina’s husband and son…again, the “sitter” no where to be found. In fact, had I not met her at the ‘meet and greet’ that I requested, I’d have never met her at all. I asked about their food, because I literally packed double of what I would normally pack them. I was told there was no food left, which I clearly know to be a blatant lie. What I assume happened, based on the way my dogs all came in and ran straight to their food and water, as if they hadn’t eaten or drank for some time, is that it was a free for all with all the dogs that she was watching, and the dogs were not separated at feeding time. My oldest dog (the Maltese), would hardly have the stamina or the will, to get food around a pack of other dogs, but my biggest dog (my Goldendoodle), was clearly not fed properly, as he came home physically thinner than we’d sent him. I’m not sure if my dogs got to eat much; nor am I certain that they were even fed the food that I packed. We get halfway down the road, and see that our Goldendoodle is missing his Apple Air Tag from his collar. We turned around to get it, and was told by the husband, that it was “left in the backyard”. He also added other pertinent information; he stated, “Yeah, we have to keep Apple air tags on all FOUR of our dogs”. Not only does Christina have it in her bio that she only has one dog, but I asked her point blankly if she had multiple dogs, because I didn’t want my dog in a house with too many other animals. Combine this with the information that the son relayed on the morning of drop off, in which I asked if my dogs would be the only dogs there for the weekend (in addition to their dog, when I was under the illusion that it was just one), and he stated, “No, there were many others coming”. If she has 4 dogs, I had 3 dogs, and additional dogs were being dropped off, I’m thinking she’s not limiting the amount of dogs she’s keeping in her care at any given time. Now, after all of this, in addition to all of the information that I’ve provided, my oldest dog seems completely traumatized. He’s having issues with bowel movements, he seemed suddenly scared of my husband and I, and wasn’t coming when called. Even when I tried to lure him with a treat, he hid under the kitchen chair, which is completely out of character for him. When we picked him up and my husband was holding him, he was visibly trembling. My 4 1/2 year old Cavapoo flinched when I went to pet his head, which he has never done before. My Goldendoodle seems fine overall, but has clearly lost weight over the weekend. I don’t know what happened to my dogs, but I have had them dog sat by various sitters and even kenneled over the years, and I have never seen them act like this. I am truly alarmed. Please make sure you read all of the reviews!! I am suspect that not all the positive reviews are legitimate. We will NEVER book with Christina again!
