Bunny mom, dog lover, cat scritcher

Pet care experience

I have experience taking care of up to four medium-large sized dogs (including one puppy) and three cats (one requiring twice daily insulin injections) at once for extended periods of time (24/7 over a 1-2 week span). I additionally own two bunnies of my own for which I provide 24/7 care and assist in the care of two cats in my household on a daily basis. Additionally, I have experience caring for a senior dog as well as a dog with behavioral sensitivities (adverse to quick movement, anxiety attacks and xenophobia). I love to spend time with animals of all kinds, whether it's snuggling, giving pats or just existing in the same space with them! I am always mindful to avoid being overbearing if an animal demonstrates a need for space, but will equally always love to snuggle if your pet wants to.

We loved having Christina watching Whiskie while we were out of town and Whiskie also loved making a new friend! Great with communication and updates and genuinely cares about the animals! Would love to have her watch our dog again!

Christina was excellent! She took genuine loving care of our three pups and cat. She was on time, with prompt clear communication, nice updates with pics of the “herd” and activities. We would definitely use Christina again when the need arises. High recommend you do too!

We had an emergency road trip to PA for family funeral and had to have someone watch my pups in the hotel while we attended the service. I have never left them with anyone but family and thought of trying rover. Christina immediately replied, and answered many questions I had for her, and we gave her a try and couldn’t have been happier. She sent pictures and treated our babies like they were her own. We could not have been more pleased with both Rover and Christina!

Christina was a wonderful sitter for our dog and cat. She was so friendly, listened to directions and followed them really well, and communicated promptly and really well for the entire time we were gone, as well as in the lead up to it. It was evident the pets felt comfortable and enjoyed Christina’s company! Christina showed great care and we hope to be able to book with her again another time! Thank you for loving our girls while we were gone!

Safety, trust & environment

Making sure your pets are safe is top priority for me, so anytime I leave the house (or a room!) I make sure that there is nothing remaining that could endanger your pet. (Can you tell I've worked with puppies?) It's important to me to have a close eye on your animals outdoors and when they are not in a familiar area, so I'm always attentive to make sure they stay safe. When we're on walks or outside of the home, I will always default to being cautious around strangers and other animals. I would much rather be overly careful (even if your pet is the sweetest, most friendly!) around unknown people or pets than have any harm (both to your pet or anyone else) come about. When on walks, I will typically default to politely declining interactions between your pet and strangers or other pets just to ensure that they're safe--because while your pet might be the sweetest in the world, you can never predict what strangers or animals might do! If I notice anything irregular about your pets behavior or something happens (even minor!) I'll ALWAYS let you know immediately with a message so that you're aware. If it's an emergency situation that can't wait, I'll give you a call and take on getting them to a vet (I'm always sure to discuss your preferences on emergency actions and care prior to a booking, so I know ahead of time what steps you want me to take if something happens). When housesitting, I will always ask about cleaning supplies to ensure that if a mess occurs I can adequately clean it. I will always bring my own food and respect any closed doors in your home or areas that you specify are off-limits. If I use any kitchen dishes or pans, I will always wash them prior to ending my stay. Any accidents in the house will always immediately get cleaned up, and I'll let you know if a potty accident left a stain or mark anywhere that I was unable to safely get out. My goal is to leave your home and pets in the same state as you left it/them, or better.

Information Christina G. would like to know about your pet

Let me know about any special needs in advance so I can keep your friend healthy and safe! (Also, always good to know where the treats are!) Here’s some things I typically like to know for a visit: ALL PETS: - Where are your pets allowed/not allowed to be? (furniture, counters, certain rooms) - Where are the treats? - Are there any specific behavioral issues I should watch out for (chewing at certain furniture, running off when seeing an animal, etc.)? - Does your pet have a favorite toy or toys? - Does your pet have any benign body features I should be aware of? (Cysts, scratches, prone to red eye—so I don’t worry there’s something out of the ordinary!) - If you have more than one pet, how do they get along? Anything to note? - In case of an emergency, I’ll always call you first. However, if it’s urgent enough that I need to take your pet to a vet immediately, are you comfortable with me taking them in the car and do you have a safety harness/crate for them for the car? - What is abnormal behavior for your pet that might indicate pain or discomfort? (Hiding, aggression, etc.) DOGS: - How do they react to passing people/other dogs on the street? - Are they food aggressive, and if so, is there a special way I should administer their food? - How do they indicate they need to go potty? - Where is your vacuum/cleaning supplies in case they get messy (especially in the winter!)? - Are you comfortable with me bathing your dog if a big mess occurs, and if so, where are your bathing supplies? - Where are your poop bags? - Do you typically pick up your dog’s poop in your yard or not? (I will always pick it up on walks, of course!) - How are they on a leash? CATS: - Where are their favorite hiding spots? (I’ll never pressure them to come and socialize, it’s just so I can check on them from time to time!) - Do they have more than one litter box, and if so, where are they? - Where do you store your litter? - Where do I dispose of used litter? - Is there any furniture they tend to scratch that I should ward them away from? - If your cat is outdoors, do they tend to bring in mice/snakes/birds, and if so, where do they typically leave them? RABBITS: - Are they free roam or caged? - If caged, do you allow them free roam time, and what are the boundaries? - Any preference towards when they get greens and how much? (My default is once a day, approximately a pile their size) - When do they get pellets? - Where do you store their hay? - Where do you store their litter? - Are there any spots in the house they chew that they aren’t suppose to? - Where are their spare chewers? - Do you have critical care on hand in case of stasis, and if so, where? - If they are long-haired, where do you keep their brush? - If you have other pets, how do they get along?

A typical day

I aim to keep to the pet's typical daily schedule so that they're as comfortable as possible, so I'll ask prior to your booking what their average day looks like and stick as close to that as possible. I'm happy to take your pet out on walks and give them lots of snuggles (or space, if that's what they want! I tend to send a LOT of pictures during your booking, both to assure you that your pet is following their normal routine (eating, walking, potty) but also because they're often so darn cute! Feel free to ask me to limit the amount of pictures I send, but I will always default to documenting your pet and I's time together so you can feel comfortable and included! I'd also love to know ahead of time if there are any favorite toys your furry friend has, and I love to give plenty of scritches and pats!

**I offer variable housesit rates based on how long your pet can be left alone during a typical day (but all housesit rates include me staying overnight!) If you need someone there 24/7 I can do that—just ask! I've taken a break from full-time employment to focus on work that gives me personal fulfillment, and pet-sitting definitely scratches that itch! I'm available nearly around the clock to watch your fur babies. I'm happy to stay overnight in your home, as well as stay with them however long they need during the day (as this is my full-time work right now!).
