My family in general have lots cats and dogs. They would always call me to come and watch their pets because they know that I am a reliable source and would take very good care of them for dogs. I would be expected to feed and make sure they have clean water and take them outside. For cats, I would be expected to clean their litter box if needed, change water, and feed them. I would spend extra time playing with the cats if they came out to see me. I’ve been doing this since I was in high school for friends and family members.
