Winchester had the best day with Christie and her roommate Ally! He came home properly exhausted which was great to see. He was very loved by them and very well taken care of. I will definitely use Christie again to watch our pup! Thank you so much ?

If there is a MINUS rating allowed, I would have used it. I had hired Christie for cat visits from July 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26 while I was in France on vacation. I set the air conditioning at the guest house, where my cats typically stay while I travel, to 72F automatically. My husband and I are frequent travelers so we are used to hiring cat sitters, and the setup at the guest house has become a routine. Within the last 7 months, I have been to London 2x, Florida, and France. The longest of which was the most recent vacation to France for 2 weeks. I have hired a cat sitter from Rover for all those trips. I had explained to Christie that Cloud, the Siamese, had diabetes last June 2016, but had been officially in remission since August 16, 2016. July 13: we were leaving for France that day, so my husband was able to monitor what needed to be done with the cats while we were away. It was Christie's first actual service. This was a supervised visit as we clearly explained what needed to be done. July 14-26. Christie sent us 2 photos on each visit, 1 photo of each cat, and made NO indications, at any time, that anything wrong was happening to the cats. She never mentioned that the cats were not eating, seems depressed or apathetic, not finishing their food, etc. NOTHING!! Every text about the cats was nothing but good news. July 26: I arrive and immediately noticed something was not right. 1) Cloud, the Siamese, was lethargic. She usually greets me at the door after a long absence. This time she stayed on her day bed, not responding. 2) The guest house reeked of a foul odor. It was SO bad that I had to open all doors and windows for several hours just to get rid of the smell. I looked around to see what might have caused the horrendous odor, but it seemed the place had been cleaned recently. I kept searching around the guest house, until I entered the bathroom where I see that the shower mat was completely covered in pee stains. The bath mat is 24" x 48" so you can imagine how many pee stains it would take to completely cover the bath mat in pee. Needless to say, the bathroom smelled like intense cat pee, it would take someone without a sense of smell NOT to notice. 3) I moved the cats back to the main house where they live with me when I am in town. And immediately both cats started howling non-stop. They complained and complained incessantly into the night. Then Cloud started vomiting and pooping and peeing all over the house instead of her litter box. Her pee also had blood in it because it was not yellow in color but more like a pink - raspberry color. I knew something was very wrong !! July 27: I called Cloud's doctor in Norwalk CT first thing in the AM to see if I can bring her in for a checkup. We had an appointment for July 28, the following day. In the meantime, the doctor prescribed Cerenia for the vomiting which I picked up. , July 28: Cloud's doctor diagnosed her with SEVERE dehydration. They also did a urine test and a blood test immediately to see what's going on with her. They also weighed her. Her weight was down to 6.2 lbs. When I left her on July 13, I had weighed her the day before and she was 7.8 lbs. So, in the 2 weeks that she was under Christie's care Cloud had lost almost 1/4 her body weight. They put an intravenous fluid into her to give her nourishment and pump fluids back into her system. A few hours later the urine test results clearly showed that her Liver values and her kidney values were OFF THE CHARTS! Since it was a Friday, the doctor recommended that I take Cloud to the VCA Emergency Hospital for pets in Norwalk where they have on duty 24/7 surgeons and doctors who can monitor her. Total cost at her regular doctor's office: $870.25 We transferred Cloud to VCA Emergency Referral Hospital at around 3PM on July 28. At VCA Emergency Hospital they did a battery of tests: blood test, urine test, ultrasound. They also put her back on an intravenous fluids. They suggested she stay overnight so they could monitor her condition. Her condition began to normalize overnight. July 29: Cloud was discharged from the emergency hospital around 3pm. She was diagnosed with Hypothermia, Kidney disease/infection and gastrointestinal disease, most likely from PROLONGED eating of rancid food. Eventually, the doctor's surmised, that she stopped eating while she was under Christie's care during the 2 weeks I was away, then started vomiting which further caused the dehydration. Cloud was prescribed with: - 1/2 Cerenia pill for anti-nausea 1x per day for 10 days or as needed. - .7 ml Clavamox ( antibiotic) 2x per day for 20 days - force feed if necessary. Do not allow NOT to eat. - Feed her water using a syringe if possible, if she does not drink water on her own. Total cost at the VCA Emergency Hospital: $ 1,658.82 July 30- Aug 3: I have been religiously following the doctor's orders, administering the medications as prescribed. Slowly, she seems to be regaining her strength. I have been hand-feeding her and giving water via a syringe since she returned home from the hospital because she has been SO weak. Aug 3: Cloud returns to her regular doctor for a check up. They did another blood test. The test results show: - red blood cells count - NORMAL - white blood cell count - HIGH. meaning she is still infected. So continue the antibiotic as prescribed - liver values - NORMAL - Kidney values - NORMAL Also, for the first time since July 26, Cloud is eating on her own again, AND has gained 1/2 pound back! Total cost for the followup: $ 321.01 Total cost beginning from July 27 - Aug 5: $ 870.25 + $1,658.82 + $321.01 = $ 2,850.08 I would NEVER use Christie again, even if she was the last cat sitter on the planet. Does that give you an idea? Her irresponsibility was clearly demonstrated. While she may not have been a doctor, so she is not able to assess whether Cloud was getting sick or not, a more responsible cat sitter would have noticed that the food was not getting eaten, and the cat was vomiting, and peeing all over the guest house. All she needed to do was to let me know SOMETHING was not right with the cats and I would have sent word to her doctor so she could be checked. However, if she was NOT coming for the visits when she was suppose to come, in the first place, this might have caused the wet food to get rancid. I would like to submit all my records and bills for a claim to be opened. Please let me know how I can do that.
