I think a dog should be at least a little tired out after a good walk. I love pets of all shapes and sizes. I've owned or lived with 8 dogs and 2 cats. I've owned a black lab, a poodle mix, three golden retrievers, a jack russel-terrier/shitzu mix, and lived with two shar peis and two cats. When I was younger my neighbors and good friends had a rottweiler named Snoopy and two doberman that I got along with really well so I am comfortable around "big scary dogs". I can bathe them, teach them tricks, discipline them appropriately and keep them from getting into trouble. I'm very meticulous when it comes to following instructions. Tug of war is a personal favorite pet game of mine but many people do not want their dogs learning that, and that's fine.
