Experienced, loving cat-sitter & house-sitter!

Pet care experience

Hello. My name is Chiara, I'm 34 years old and I love cats and other pets. I've always had cats since I was just a girl and I've also been taking care of other people's pets for years, even before I joined Rover. I used to live on a farm before relocating to London, that's why I have experience in looking after some unusual life companions, such as chickens, ducks, goats, and donkeys, besides being good at caring for dogs, goldfish, rabbits, hamsters and of course cats, my favourites! If you need to travel and can't bring your pets with you, I'll be happy to look after your cats while you are away, be it for a few days only or for some weeks. I'm okay with taking care of both indoor and outdoor cats, male or female, neutered/spayed or not. I'm also comfortable in taking care of the delicate cases, that is, very small kittens, pregnant cats, elderly cats or cats who are not in good health and need to take meds, because I've already done all those things and never had a problem. I don't like giving injections to cats, though, so if your cat has diabetes or some other condition requiring injections, I'm sorry to say I'm not the right person for the job. I'm also really good with cats who are shy and fear strangers because a few of my adopted cats were just like that, so I became an expert at patiently and lovingly winning their trust. If you prefer it, I'm also open to house-sitting, which means staying over at your place with your pets while you are away, and taking care of the house (keeping it clean and aired, watering the plants, etc.). If you choose me as your cat-sitter or house-sitter, your cats will be in good hands - reliable, experienced, and affectionate - and you will get updates and photos of your pets for the full duration of the sitting. And for your peace of mind, I can say that - besides being checked and vetted by Rover - I also have full DBS check. If you request them, I can also provide you with cat-sitting and house-sitting references from some of my previous customers.

Chiara has stayed in our home looking after our cats a number of times now, it’s clear she adores animals. She is careful and respectful of our home, always leaving it exactly as she found it - if not tidier! Finding Chiara has made holidays possible again for us, without the stress of burdening family, friends or neighbours with the responsibility, Chiara doesn’t feel it as a burden, but enjoys the company of even my unfriendly cats. The only hesitation I have giving a testimonial is that if too many people find out about her, she might not be available for us!

Chiara has looked after my cats a number of times. She has always been very caring, reliable and happy to stay in the house with them (now just one cat sadly). I’ve just come back from a week away and she sent me twice daily updates on my lovely boy. I’ve had no worries about leaving her in charge of my home, which is always as I left it when I return, and most importantly she cares about my boy, even when he’s timid and standoffish. Finding Chiara has made holidays possible once again.

Chiara has looked after our pets on several occasions and I recommend her highly. She lived at our house for up to 2 weeks and sent us daily reports on the animals, with photos. The pets have become used to her and I feel confident that they will be lovingly looked after.

Chiara has been catsitting for us for over 3 years. Our cat is quite shy but she loves Chiara and always trots out to see her when she arrives - something she doesn’t do with very many people at all so a real sign of approval! Chiara is very communicative and sends multiple photos a day of what they have been up to so we never have to worry at all when we are away. I have no hesitation at all in recommending Chiara for pet sitting.

When I cat-sit (at the cat owner's own home), I usually offer one-hour visits, once or twice a day (cat owner's choice), during which I feed the cat, change their water, clean their litter tray and play with them and/or brush their fur. When I'm house-sitting (staying with the cat overnight at the owner's own home), on top of all the basic cat-sitting services mentioned above, I also keep the house clean, air it, collect the mail and parcels, water the plants, put out the rubbish on collection day and any other reasonable requests that the cat owner might have (to be agreed upon before confirming the booking). Additional services I've offered in the past are: collecting items from the vet, administering medication to the cats, changing their collar if the old one gets damaged, administering anti-flea treatments, and deep-cleaning a room after the cats have brought in an injured mouse or a bird.

Information Chiara R. would like to know about your pet

Please, let me know in advance if your cat has or has ever had any medical issues, special needs, or particular dietary requirements. Let me know whether they're neutered/spayed or not and whether they're up-to-date with vaccinations and anything else (anti-flea treatments and such). I am experienced in looking after delicate cases, such as very young kittens, pregnant cats, elderly cats, and cats who are not in good health. I have administered medications to cats (both oral and injected).

A typical day

I will feed your cat, change their water, clean their litter tray and give them some playtime and/or brush their fur on every visit. When required, I will also change their litter, clean after them if they've had an "accident" (vomited or regurgitated a furball...) and deep-clean the whole room if they have brought in an injured mouse or bird.

Availability

I only work three days a week, so on most days I'm home and I can look after your cats and/or take care of your house: keeping it clean and aired, watering the plants, and such. Even on the days when I'm working, I can still pop in for a one-hour visit to your cats, either in the early morning or in the evening (or both, if you prefer): feed your fur-baby, change their water, clean their litter and give them some playtime.
