Passionate and here for your pet!

Pet care experience

Dog walking has been a regular part of every job I've had and now I walk dogs every day for my clients. I have the added bonus of knowing how to handle the unexpected. I've worked with medication administration, pre-existing conditions, and emergency situations; all with love for all types of pets (even the more difficult ones). I officially worked in veterinary care for 5 years, but of course, like many other animal lovers, it started when I was very young. Being raised by a veterinary assistant, I had the initial skills for animal care through beloved childhood pets and many, many pets of friends and family. I have continued to build those skills professionally. My work experience started as soon as I could with volunteer experience, which soon evolved into positions as a veterinary technician. After 3 years of technician work at a general practice, I wanted to step up to a veterinary emergency hospital. I was hired as a receptionist but if we were short handed, I filled in doing technician work. I was well versed with hands-on care from previous positions and was able to adapt quickly, even picking up shifts as a technician there. I worked there for 2 years, but have continued caring for animals here and in my current position at a veterinary hospital. I am very observant, skilled, and passionate in my work and I am very aware that your trust is very valuable. I take care of pets the way I would my own, which is very well and with much love. I am currently working full time as a pet care professional, with a part time position at a veterinary hospital. I am typically unavailable early mornings, but am flexible if I am needed then. I will be walking your pet around areas you are comfortable with. That is most likely your neighborhood, but I'd be more than happy to take your pet to local trails and parks if permitted. I do run regularly so they will be plenty tired wherever we go! Off leash walks are unlikely until I get to know your pup very well.

Cheyenne has been walking our 2 large Bernese Mountain dogs weekly for several weeks and she is wonderful! Our dogs can be a handful, especially the younger one, but she keeps them under control and we can already see an improvement in his behavior after she has spent time with them. We're glad we found Cheyenne and love being able to count on her.

Cheyenne was a wonderful dog sitter and really goes above and beyond! She really seems to love and understand dogs, sent us tons of updates and photos, was a super tidy guest, and was even flexible enough to be able to extend her sitting dates for us last minute when our flights home were cancelled.

Safety, trust & environment

Safety is the number one priority, all food and items that could be harmful to your pet are stored behind closed doors. There is lots of time for cuddles and play too! I love to have the dogs in bed with me, it helps with a lot of their seperation anxiety for them too, so I am very happy to have them there. I will take them on walks and we will have tons of play time in backyards or inside (depending on your preference).

Information Cheyenne J. would like to know about your pet

I would like to know any pre-existing conditions, allergies, or unusual habits. I'd also love to know what kind of treats are okay to give (and if any are available to take with us on walks). No breed preference, but it is important to have a properly sized collar or harness. Nothing super loose or prone to slipping loose please. I have lots of leashes that I can use if need be.

A typical day

I like to go on trails or to parks to give pets as many new smells as possible. There is always time to play with their favorite toys and practice training along the way. Dog parks are doable if requested, but I prefer to have an experience that is not reliant on other dogs behaving. The most common place to see injuries is at a dog park.
