Vet assistant experience

Pet care experience

I have always had a deep passion for animals of all kinds. I’ve had cats and dogs my whole life but I got my first cat in 2016, I rescued him and his brother from a barn life and they quickly became like children to me and this opened my eyes to what my life calling is. I worked as a vet assistant for 2 1/2 years and I am currently in school to become a licensed veterinary technician. Since working at the clinic I have rescued two dogs and another cat (I am a sucker for helping animals in need) and I have fostered and helped many kitties and a few dogs since as well. I am more than capable of administering medications and I love to research training techniques and behavior/ body language for dogs so that I can better understand them and understand their boundaries to ensure they are comfortable. I also really enjoy training because I love to be able to help a pet parent better understand their family member. I’m by no means a certified trainer I just do a lot of research and use what has consistently worked on my own dogs, as well as friends and families animals who have asked me for a little assistance in training. I am able to clip nails for both cats and dogs as well.

About Cheyene M.

Skills

7 years of experience
Oral medication administration
Injected medication administration
Can provide daily exercise

Safety, trust & environment

Given my background of working at the veterinary clinic I understand how to properly sanitize areas and I take pet health very seriously. I have my animals on prevention medications (flea + tick + heart worm prevention for all animals) and my pets are UTD on shots so contracting something from my animals is near impossible but I will be wearing clean and sanitized scrubs and sanitized shoes. Like I mentioned previously I am capable of giving medications (liquids, pills, and topicals). I take boundaries very seriously and I do a bit of research to understand body language so that I can understand when a dog is anxious, frightened, or happy as sometimes warning signs can be subtle and go unnoticed to someone who isn’t aware and a situation can turn grim easily. I want to avoid that at all costs and build trust with the animals I care for.

Information Cheyene M. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your pet has any medical conditions/ medications/ preferences/ or behaviors I should account for. I have pets in my own house, that said I had no problems with animals that have any contagious diseases but I would just like to be aware for the safety of my own pets.

A typical day

I love to spend time outside when the weather is nice so I love to go for walks myself. I do also have some puzzles that my own dogs love for mental stimulation!
