Pet care experience
TLDR: Animals love me and I love them and have the patience and compassion of a very famous lady saint :) I have about 20+ years experience with pets. Adopted a special needs dog, currently have free roam (initially super shy) bunny - he's on a separate floor, and am a part-time professional pet-sitter and dogwalker! The long, but emotional version: I've had many hamsters, birds, a cat, a toad, and turtles growing up. The notoriously shy ones warm up to me and we usually become best friends. I've dog sat for many years for dogs and puppies before owning my own. I eventually adopted the sweetest 10 y.o. pitbull named Bella with special needs. She required house training, overall obedience training, had guarding issues, incontinence and had to wear doggie diapers, would steal food out of your hand and off tables, didn't follow commands, and didn't know how to play with toys at first. She was far from well-trained, but she was still perfect to me. With time, patience, many treats, butt scratches and kisses, and fortitude - Bella transformed into an almost completely different dog. She was my confidante, my sidekick, and one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Although I've worked with children with special needs for many years prior and have cared for infants and toddlers as well, Bella taught me even more about patience, unconditional love, and compassion than I ever thought was possible. I carry this patience and compassion with me with every animal I meet. Proudly, I'm also a dog auntie to (who I believe to be) the best dog nephew ever. Him and my sister are constantly teaching me about dog training. When my best friend and first time for owner bought her puppy toy Aussie who mimics the Energizer bunny who just drank 3 shots of expresso - I assisted with her dog's training (as well as provide lots of emotional support that she is doing a great job). I'm also a first-time owner of a free roaming bunny named Filbert. Talk about patience and letting them move at their own pace, try owning a bunny ;) He is now the cuddliest and least shy bunny now! Your pet would be showered with lots of cuddles, kisses and play time! FIRST TIMERS: Use CHERYC80453 to get $20 off :) Enjoy!
Reviews
Cheryl was so great with our cat and sent us updates with pictures and videos every day. She was super responsive and flexible. It was such a relief to know our cat was in good hands the whole time!
Cheryl is truly THEE dog whisperer. We have a very shy pup and she came into our home with patience and kindness, and now Cheryl and Daisy are best friends. Cheryl is super easy to communicate with, very understanding and flexible when needed. Cheryl is a great sitter and person, anyone who hires her is LUCKY to have their dog spend time with her. Will be booking Cheryl again and again as long as we’re in Portland.
Cheryl was great! Very communicative and friendly. My dog had a great day with her
Cheryl has been nothing short of amazing. She handles our extremely anxious dog very well. She's communicative and responsive to questions. She's been very flexible and it's clear she has a passion and knowledge of working with even difficult dogs.

I have an almost fenced in yard - there's a small entrance from the deck that leads to the driveway that isn't fenced off. But there is plenty of space for a dog to roam as well as many parks near me with dog parks. I also have space to crate a dog if that is needed.

Information Cheryl C. would like to know about your pet
Preparation is key when it comes to taking care of pets or humans! If your dog has special needs, separation anxiety, good/ not good with kids, good/ not good off leash, a special toy they must have, medication they need to take - knowing these things can help me plan for activities to do with them while you're gone. Thank you!
A typical day
I love to positively reinforce (think kisses, "good jobs" and treats) dogs while training and teaching them new tricks. A great way to mentally stimulate them (and tire them). Fetch, run, tug-o-war, find it, etc. I enjoy going to nearby parks, hikes or dog parks.

I'm a working doctorate student that is currently doing hybrid learning, 1-2 days a week. Both school and work are within 10-20 minutes from my house. My class, clinic shifts and work are no more than 4 hours long so my schedule is quite flexible. I live a very active so I love playtime with pets (I love running and finding new ways to stay active). Before and after work or at the beginning or end of the day is when I designate play time with a pet. If I'm out all day (ie: going to a park, hike, etc) - I'd be happy to take your dog with me on our little adventure.
