We have 2 small dogs that we needed a sitter for. I found Chenghong on Rover.com and his profile stated he had one dog and a cat. Upon correspondence via email with him, he said he had 3 small dogs and a cat. Our dogs like other small dogs, so we agreed on a date to do a meet/greet. He wanted confirmation that our dogs were fully vaccinated, which I had no issue with. We met outside his front door where we were greeted by him and his 3 dogs. I showed proof of vaccine at that time, and he assured us that his dogs were also fully vaccinated. The dogs all seemed to get along well, so we felt comfortable with leaving our dogs in his care the following week. On drop off day, we brought them with all food and supplies, including their own crates and written ‘daily routines’, and went on our way. Early that that evening, I texted to ask how they were settling in , as I had not heard anything from him. I saw that he received the message, but I got no response until about 2 hours later. He stated that he had missed the message earlier, although I had seen that he read the message when it was sent. It did concern me a little. When he did respond, he stated that he was ‘trying to get the dogs acclimated today, so I’m keeping them in their cage as much as possible. Tomorrow they can go out and play with the other dogs’. I wasn’t really pleased about that, but 2 hours away, what do I do…better that than locked outside or ??The next morning I got a short video of them out on the back deck with the other dogs, and that they were ‘friendly together’, so felt a bit more relieved. I otherwise received no updates or pics on how they were doing. I have used other sitters via Rover before, and have received regular daily updates, without having to reach out myself ( which is what I understood to be part of the service offered by sitters on Rover.com). The next communication was when I texted to let him know we were on our way back from our getaway. On arrival to pick up our dogs, we were greeted at the front door by the host with our dogs’ belongings. Also behind him were not only his 3 dogs, but one more dog! I enquired, and he said that yes, he was looking after another little dog , but it had just been the one night. I had no idea he had plans to look after another dog while our two were there. He had insisted on proof of vaccination for our two. As cute as the other dog was , I had no idea that he had planned on it being there, which did not impress my husband or me. Sorry, but I would not request his service or recommend him to others. Overall, very poor communication, and overall, I feel that our dogs were lacking much attention while we were away:(

It would have been perfect for Coco to stay at Chenghongs, except I had to cancel. If and when he’s needed again I hope he will be available. ?
