Pet care experience
I'm an experienced foster dog parent, with two fur children of my own. Fostering dogs for over 10 years gives me a unique experience to connecting with dogs in that I am often helping a dog feel grounded, confident, and secure after coming from a scary and sometimes traumatic environments. I've fostered over 35 dogs, and in the past two years have focused specifically on puppies and shy/fearful dogs. I have experience with all kinds of breeds and sizes. I absolutely love chihuahuas and bully breeds! A friend to fearful & Shy dogs: I have a calm and sensitive energy about myself that fearful/shy dogs appreciate and have a lot of experience with reading their body language to meet them where they're at. I think it's the introvert in myself, but I match their energy and can connect with them. I often work with building trust and teaching them consent for pets, and love working with dogs that need help building trust. Puppies: I have raised dozens of puppies from as early as 6 weeks, and am a PRO at teaching house training to puppies. I'm very enthusiastic about it and know exactly when a pup needs to go potty! I teach all of my foster puppies basic commands, and crate training and am experienced in how to build confidence in them as they learn to socialize with the world and new environments. If you are looking for puppy training support I would love to help. Fear / Reactivity: I also am very familiar with leash reactive dogs and enjoy working with them. I am a positive dog handler and very familiar and comfortable with counter conditioning and desensitization through my foster work and navigating my own dog's needs.
Reviews
We were so happy to have Chelsea stay with our dogs at our home while we were out of town for a few days over the Thanksgiving holiday. She was very responsive and experienced with dogs. We were especially glad for her comfort and experience with bully breeds and dogs with leash aggression, as one of our dogs gets pretty feisty on the leash. She communicated with us throughout the stay, sending pictures and videos of the dogs daily! She also left us a lovely note and very impressive illustrated card of our two pups. We felt that our dogs and the house were in good hands while we were out of town. We would definitely have Chelsea as our pet/house sitter again.
Chelsea was the ideal dog sitter- accomodating,
Chelsea was on time, very knowledgable, and took great care of our big high-energy German Shepherd and our 3 chickens. After talking with Chelsea we were very confident that she would take great care of our animals and that she could manage any suprises or emergencies that might come up while we were away. All went smoothly and we returned home 3 days later to a happy dog and chickens, and a clean house.

I am a dog parent advocate for treating dogs as individuals who deserve kindness, understanding, and opportunities to live full lives that go beyond just "getting their energy out". Caring for a dog to me is about giving them experience and love that makes them engage with their world with joy. I spend a lot of time cuddling with my own pups, and giving them attention. I like to make sure they are happy!
Information Chelsea W. would like to know about your pet
I'd love to know how your dog does with strangers, what they enjoy, any commands they know, things you'd like your dog to work on, and any allergies they have if you'd like me to bring them enrichment treat activities.
A typical day
I have a ton of enrichment toys and chews in my own home, and love to put together their treat puzzles, snuffle mats, and lickimats. In a clients home when I do a drop-in visit, If you would like I would love to bring over things like that they can do while i'm visiting them. I think this would be really helpful if the client has very reactive or fearful dogs where a walk might be more stressful than positively engaging. A fearful dog could learn positive association with me too if each time I visit they get a special treat activity! Depending on the dog's needs I'd let them out to go potty, take them on a walk, and engage with them by giving them affection, brushing up on obedience, and doing enrichment activities.

Availability
I currently work part-time from home from Monday to Thursday from 9-2pm with either Tuesday or Wednesday off depending on my job's needs. With my own dogs, throughout the day I put together some enrichment activities like a lickimat, snuffle mat, or we do short training sessions. They get as many potty breaks as they need.
