I met Chaunte when I began working at a dog daycare in Madison. She was my supervisor and this was my first experience working with dogs in an employment setting. From the beginning I could see the Chaunte loved dogs. She interacted positively with them and took time to do extra things. She would bring high energy dogs to the big yard for extra ball time, she would brush hair, check pads to make sure feet weren't in pain, or she would spend time with the quieter dogs who spent the day sleeping. She also taught me a lot about dog behavior. She knew when dogs were getting too aggressive or too energized from being around so many dogs. She knew when it was good to play in a big group or when we needed to split up the dogs. I also found that Chaunte was personable with the owners. They would come pick up their dogs and want to hear about the day and Chaunte would always be willing to talk to them. Lastly, Chaunte was always on time to work and she would be one of the first people to volunteer to take an extra shift if we were short staffed. I only worked with Chaunte for a year but in that time I learned a lot and really enjoyed my time at the daycare.
