I have been housesitting and caring for neighbors' cats and dogs for over 10 years. Summer 2018 and 2019 I was hired by an independent contractor and had a regular dog-walking schedule with clients varying from puppies to very elderly dogs who even needed special assistance. I own two cats myself and grew up with other dogs and cats before. I know how precious our pets are to us!

When it comes to cats, I understand their temperaments and boundaries. For all pets, I always make sure they have water and a comfortable living environment before leaving your home. I usually finish visits with cuddles and praise so the pet knows they are loved.

It's important to know how the dog feels towards strangers: both dogs and humans. All of my dogs I've taken care of in my family were not friendly toward other dogs so I understand the importance of keeping the dog calm and avoidant of situations that could be stressful. I also ask what a dog's favorite activity or toy is.
A typical day
I like to go to the dog park or any public park if an owner gives permission. A game of tug is always a good time, as are belly rubs, and playing catch/retrieve/keep away...

Availability
I am in graduate school. This does not affect my ability to do drop in visits or occasional walks, but I cannot commit to continuous walks and will be slightly more busy at nighttime when classes are.
