I met Charlie through a house sitting site earlier this year. I felt so assured of his personality, professionalism, background and kindness I asked him to care for my cats and house for a month May 2022 while I went on vacation. Charlie cared for my cats and house like they were his own. Even though I love to travel, planning a trip is difficult. The anxiety from worrying about finding someone suitable to care for my cats (and dogs when I have any) properly is significant and by far the biggest obstacle. What I found in Charlie is relief from this burden. Charlie is a gentle, kind, respectful and reliable animal lover. I have used other pet and house sitter before to less than optimal outcomes but this time it could not have gone better than if I was home caring for my cats myself. If I could hire Charlie to care for my cats and dogs (when I have dogs) every time I went on vacation life would be SO much easier! I would be very lucky to have such capable hands lovingly take over in my absence. Though much of Charlie's recent pet sitting and life experience is with dogs, he loves all animals, grew up with cats, was amazing with my cats (absolutely doted on them) and he treats both species with love, joy and kindness. My cats immediately took to Charlie. Within days he was able to let them out to play in the garden and they came back inside for dinner on schedule responding to him much better than they ever do for me. Throughout my trip Charlie would send pictures of my cats including some of them sleeping on their backs on his lap. Clearly completely content and trusting of him. I appreciate his kind consideration of keeping me informed and of course I LOVED receiving pictures of my 'children'. Even though I was on a trip of a lifetime I thought of my cats daily and missed them terribly so I really appreciated receiving updates. Seeing them so clearly comfortable and happy in his care allowed me relax and enjoy my trip. I introduced Charlie to a friend who had heard my constant praises of him over the weeks. After spending time chatting in her garden my friend later reached out to me just to say “You lucked out with Charlie. He is SUCH a sweetheart!”. Even my cats gave Charlie rave reviews by continuing to sleep with him after I returned home! I have fostered senior dogs for a local dog rescue over the past 12 years. I have taken in almost 20 foster dogs adopting about 1/3 along the way. I currently don't have a dog but often do. I know if had a dog, I would feel completely content to have Charlie care for them. Actually, I would be elated to be so fortunate to have him care for them. If he can win over my rescue cats I have no doubt any dog I have would love him.
